"Book room #207, where President Park stayed."

6.0

No one spoke much English, so we were unable to confirm the story that the former temple behind the hotel is one of the sites where the Japanese drove in iron spikes to destroy the power meridians of Korea. The impressive welcome arch at the top of the stairs perhaps helps to cancel any effect the disrupted meridians might have on guests. The hotel was built in 1962 and certainly reflects the characteristics of a 60s hotel, with very few power outlets and a can of bug spray on the dresser. The view is great, the breakfast mediocre.

"Old Style, Away from Everything"

6.0

Pretty location, decent view on my side of the hotel but far from everything and not much here. Generally hotels this secluded have a little more than just a restaurant. Pretty old especially the bathroom and the bed was pretty 'extra firm'. The wifi was surprisingly good and while the TV had about a million channels, only a few were in English. Just as I was leaving I found the TV guide in the desk drawer but still mostly in Korean. It was pretty quiet though. Not sure there are many options in this town.

"Nice location... small rooms"

6.0

Here is my take on the Sejong Hotel: Pleasant location above the city with a nice view and park like setting. Polite staff but not warmly welcoming. The rooms are very cramped and very old. The hotel could really stand a bit of a modernization. The TV had a few hundred channels but to find something that is not Korean.... well you have to go through 300 channels as there is no guide. The back rooms face on to a steep hill so there is no view. I expect the front rooms are only marginally better. I think I would prefer to stay in town next time.

"The best CHuncheon has to offer"

8.0

Don't expect luxury at this hotel. But the place is clean, has friendly staff, offers a good breakfast and is in a peaceful location. It is also 5 mins. away from the main shopping area. In sum - a decent traveller's lodge.

"Nice but old"

6.0

Hotel is close to the central part of the city, but is in a secluded location. If you have a car it's not an issue, but otherwise be prepared to walk uphill. Location does offer some great views and the hotel grounds are wonderful. This is a very peaceful setting. Hotel staff is great, but the hotel is in need of a renovation. the double rooms are very small so if you are staying there for more than a couple of days, inquire about the larger rooms.

"Secluded Location out of City"

6.0

When we first arrived at the main gate, we thought the taxi driver sent us to a temple instead of the hotel. Yup. It was correct, a modern hotel behind the traditional chinese-like gate. Why we were on a taxi when we were backpacking tells you that the location is out of the city area. The hotel is located quite inside a residential estate and there seems to be no public buses to stop there. By car, it was only a short time to the city area though. Lucky thing was, the cab fare in Chuncheon was not expensive, thus it was still affordable to call a cab. We had to book a cab to go town because cabs seldom drove in there. The reception staff was kind enough to help us book cabs as they too agreed it was hard to get public transport there. Though not very well-versed in English, the staff were able to understand simple conversation etc. The front garden of the hotel overlooks the whole city area below and on a clear night, you can marvel at the city's bright lights. Place is quiet, good for people who are looking for tranquility. Room wise, it was very brightly lighted all day long as it faced the sun and the garden below. It was fairly big for a double room and the bathroom was big enough as normal western standard. So, it's clean and spacious - no bed bugs etc. Cost wise, it's really expensive in our view. Since the location is not superbly located, the price ain't do justice. Also, in the room, look out for things being laid on the table, they are chargeable. Read carefully on their notice because it lists the costs of chargeable items which are overpriced. Recommend? For those who drive, yes. Or unless you intend to take taxi in and out of the hotel.

"All right but seems too expensive considering it's nothing special + far from town"

6.0

I'd look for a better option. This hotel is far from city centre. The taxis are not expensive but i guess it is always better to stay closer to town. Unless you are looking for a quiet place. In this case I'd recommend Sejong Chuncheon. The rooms were bright and clean, staff helpful and nice and overall it was a positive experience but if you are on budget holidays, this place seems a bit too expensive (over 40 euros for a double room, off- peak season does not seem as a great value for money)
