Sheraton Grand Hiroshima Hotel

La chambre est grande et le lit confortable. L’hôtel est très bien situé à deux pas de la gare.

Le restaurant de l’hôtel était moind’etre a la hauteur du standing escompté. Tant le petit déjeuner que le buffet du dîner étaient très décevant. Le restaurant japonais est cher mais de qualité.

This was one of the most uncomfortable and disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had in Japan, especially for a property branded as Sheraton Grand. During my stay, I became unwell and missed a restaurant reservation arranged through the hotel. I immediately explained my condition and even offered to pay the cancellation fee. Despite this, I was repeatedly pressured by the hotel staff to settle the payment in person, including multiple late-night calls between 9:00 PM and 10:25 PM while I was clearly unwell and trying to rest. I genuinely felt questioned, chased, and pressured, which is completely unacceptable — particularly when the guest is sick and fully cooperative. Instead of offering reasonable solutions, staff continued to insist that I leave my room late at night to settle the matter. This created unnecessary stress and significantly impacted my stay. To make matters worse, there was incorrect documentation provided at check-in, listing a different cancellation fee amount, which added further confusion and frustration. While the hotel later apologized, they framed their eventual solution as a “special exception,” when in reality it was simply the most reasonable option from the beginning. No compensation or meaningful gesture was offered despite the poor handling of the situation. Additionally, the rooms themselves were extremely outdated and had a noticeable unpleasant smell, far below expectations for a Sheraton Grand property. The hotel overall feels tired and in need of renovation. Overall, the experience lacked empathy, professionalism, and proper guest care. For a Sheraton Grand — and especially given the reputation of hospitality in Japan — this experience was surprisingly poor. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed, and I would not stay here again.

Amazing hotel and staff

Extraordinary kind and dedicated staff. The room was spacious and generous especially with the bathroom. Little extras like the Nespresso coffee machine and amnities were really appreciated. The room was very clean and well maintained. The view from the corner room was also nice and in general, it was a very comfortable stay. Special appreciation for the Japanese restaurant: I extremely enjoyed the kaiseki dinner I had there. The food was amazing, perfectly balanced and the staff was very joyful. The easy and very direct connection to Hiroshima Station make this hotel a perfect stay for sightseeing and easy travel to any further destination.

Breakfast is decent in the buffet restaurant, but more so is it very hectic with lots of movement, people waiting to be seated (even at 7:00am) and moving from A to B. Not a huge issue, it was not a relaxing atmosphere but also not (!) horrible. Context: I was staying during an extremely crowded/busy season, so that certainly had an impact. The staff was working very hard and dedicated to give everyone a seat and grouping tables for families, so that was very positive!
