I recently returned, so I will address valid concerns by other reviewers. Pro for a Bonvoy Platinum/Titanium member: Breakfast in the lounge I do agree that the breakfast area in the main part of the hotel was busy and chaotic--this is why we chose to dine in the lounge instead. During our stay, the lounge was peaceful and well-stocked, and it offered great views. Bonvoy members can take advantage of this perk. The pros for the room: The room decor is traditional, maybe unexciting. However, all the included amenities should be considered: complimentary toothbrush/paste, hairbrush, facial lotions; water purifier; robes and slippers. Shower/tub area was great. Lovely views from our window. These types of details/advantages made up for the lackluster decor. Service: The excellent service at reception cannot be overlooked. We were walked to the elevator and received a bow. Japanese etiquette at its best. Location: I agree - the location is a toss up. The hotel is connected to the station, so for someone popping in for a few days by Shinkansen, you can't beat the convenience. However, most likely, you are coming to see the sites (Peace Memorial Museum and Park and/or Miyajima Island - highly recommend all!). It's a pretty long walk to the museum (though it can be done), and we found the tram access less straightforward than Tokyo's trains. It would have been nice to be more centrally located to the sites. But we had an early start to Kyoto and greatly appreciated the ease of catching our train. We could not have both convenience to the train and to the sites, so we chose the train. And you can't get any closer than this hotel. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel and thought there were many more pros than cons.
