Arrived at the property to be told the room had been double booked and we couldn’t stay there. They apologised and blamed booking.com. Had to panic find another hotel and I still haven’t been refunded for this hotel.

The pub was ok but of course very noisy until closing time. Our room was clean and nicely furnished but the bed was awful, very lumpy. The pillows were flat and solid, no chance of plumping them up! Plenty of choice for breakfast and the cooked breakfast was ample. However, on both mornings there was no orange juice only pineapple and no marmalade. Guests were asking for both.

The bed was very comfortable and on the whole, apart from the noise issues, the room was ok.

Firstly the music noise from the bar area was unbearable. Despite complaining twice between around 9.30-10.30, we were told they "couldn't turn it down as it was Friday night" and that it would be turned down at 11pm. Given that we were in a family room and the bed was actually vibrating with the sound of the bass, this was wholly unacceptable. This is a family room that we paid a decent amount for and had there been children in the room it would have been even more of an issue. It's in a busy area of town and so fully expected a level of noise from the street, and perhaps even from a busy bar, but neither of these was the issue. The level of volume in the bar was extremely loud and you refused to do anything about that until 11pm. You need to decide who your customers are. The table wasn't clean (I removed a spot with wet wipe so merely a cleaning issue not a stain) and there was an old door lock hanging off the door, giving the appearance that the room had been broken into at one point.
