Athelstane House

Loved our stay! Lovely old house beautifully renovated but maintaining the charm! Great breakfast to top off the experience!

We stayed one night at Athelstane House. It is an older style boarding house but is in good condition. Our room is spacious, clean and quiet. The bed is a bit on the soft side but ok for a one night stay. There is no individual shower in the bathroom and you have to “climb” into the bath if you are like me I.e. 5’2”. My husband is ok but he is 6’2”. Also, it’s very slippery when it’s wet so I don’t think it’s that good for senior citizens. There are small tubes of shampoo and conditioner and one small soap. No body lotion and body wash which is ok for me but I do suggest at last one more soap for the bath. We have to use the same small soap for bath and washing hands which is still ok but after the shower, I left the soap on the far side of the bath and I won’t bother to climb into and out of the bath again to get the soap so for the rest of the day, I use the shampoo to wash my hands! This is a minor thing but for the price we pay for the room, another bar of soap won’t hurt the profit margin . The staff are nice particularly the lady who served us breakfast in the dining room. Very bubbly and friendly. There are a number of choices for cooked breakfast and I particularly love the “small”breakfast because I don’t eat much and I just wish everyone gives people like me a choice of smaller portion so as not to waste food. The breakfast also includes tea and coffee and orange juice. All in all, we are happy with our stay and would recommend this property.

Beautiful Staff that made the experience one-of a kind. Will definitely head back for a drink/breakfast. A pleasant and peaceful stay that is great for taking time out.

Tired accommodation only saved by the warmth of the staff

The stay was all excellent Except we didn’t like the noise from leaf blower in the garden in the morning It woke us up !

Gorgeous accommodation in an excellent location. Staff were extra friendly and helpful. Queenscliff itself is a lovely place which we will definitely visit again

Room/hotel was peaceful and clean. Service was a little slow at times when waiting for meals (have a 2 year old who is very impatient!). But the ladies were lovely. The hotel was located in a great location walking distance to the beach, trian, food, ferry and shops. Overall a great little boutique place that's relaxing and close to everything.

charming, welcoming and comfortable. A full cooked breakfast with an expresso machine and a full bar with room service made sitting on the verandah so relaxing.

Nice and clean, polite and friendly staff and great breakfast, however for the price it was a very small room. The lack of a full-length mirror (or indeed any mirror except in the bathroom) also made dressing for the wedding we were attending a challenge.
