Auchrannie Resort

Wonderful time away on the magical Isle of Arran staying at the magnificent Auchrannie resort. Grandparents, young parents and four year old all had brilliant stay with lots to see and do. The accommodation as ever, was first class, the menus were scrumptious and the staff just outstanding.

The staff were excellent, couldn't do enough. Such a wonderful place, great service, relaxed atmosphere. Really good food and just so easy to get to with beautiful mountains surrounding.

When having lunch a couple came into dine and he only had on a grey knee length dressing gown, these white slippers and a book under his arm.This can't be right while we are all eating.Your code for Cruize is casual but that draws the line.None of us will eat in their if a man will be walking in slightly clad.Apart from that all was well.

There was lots to like about the retreats at Auchrannie - beautiful views, modern, clean interiors, beautiful area. Lovely walks straight from the property to surrounding areas.

A malfunctioning thermostat for the heating in our retreat took three attempts over two days to fix which was far from ideal. The temperature controls in both shower rooms were also defective - one was replaced as soon as I reported it but I would have preferred not to spend my three day holiday sorting out basic maintenance.

Been coming here as a family for many many years, but sadly this place just is not what it was. We had a terrible sleep in room #2 in the old house hotel, which was £295 for the night. They have a new bar downstairs playing loud dance music until 1am, which is not what you expect from a spa hotel like this. I phoned to ask if the music could be turned down and was told no, they won't be closing the bar early. There was a really strong smell coming from the drains in our room, so we were up in the middle of the night running the shower and taps, with the extractor on to mitigate it, which hugely disrupted our sleep. We were told that sometimes these things happen. Then we were woken up around 5 by the loud noise of what I think was staff getting ready for the day. The walls are paper thin - you can hear the people in the rooms next to you using their toilets with crystal clear sound effects. Not great. One of the biggest changes overall is the hotel's increasingly extreme approach to "dog-friendly." Dogs are allowed everywhere in this resort now, apart from in the swimming pool areas. Go for lunch in Cruize? Wet dogs on the carpet beside you. Go for dinner in Brambles? Dogs being petted by serving staff during service. Go to sit in the relaxing bar in the old house hotel? Wet dogs running around in pairs and up on sofas. Going for a walk in the grounds? I hope you like dogs. We complained and were given £100 off our bill, which took our total spend to just under £350 for one night, including food and drinks, which is a lot of money for the experience we had. Accommodating dogs is one thing, by why are there no dog-free zones? We were told that dog-friendly hotels are not for everyone - i.e. we don't need your service any more. Fair enough. Thousands and thousands spent on this place over the years, it's time for us to find somewhere new.

Great hotel on Arran, lovely room, fantastic service, delicious food, a bundle of amenities and a warm welcome.

Everything, was excellent. From the beautiful rooms, to the grounds, to the spa, pool etc, to the evening meal and finally breakfast. Staff very attentive. Perfect in every way. Had to have top score. Will be back.

Nothing i didnt like.

Breakfast was fantastic! Location is also fantastic. The pool facilities are very good, though some improvements are possible.

It was expensive, maybe the price could have been better?
