Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa

Firstly the staff are lovely and helpful and very friendly and professional, however that the ONLY GOOD THING about the hotel, the “spa” can not be classed as a spa… the pool was a nice temperature but the floor of the pool was covered in sharp gritty substances ( sand from golf course I presume ) the jacuzzi was filthy Visual brown foam on top of the water. The sauna smelt absolutely vile honestly it was beyond words. The whole hotel was in need of upkeep and maintance. All doors were dirty , walls were dirty , curtains were brown and ripped in lounge , cups were dirty at breakfast. Rooms were stuffy and outdated with plaster coming off ceilings in bathroom and visible stains on ceiling in rooms. Sheets were stained but were soft and comfy. All the glass to the doors were covered in handprints and dirt :( The walls in restaurant and the wood dado were filthy and worn . Rooms were unbearably stuffy and hot despite having 2 fans ( reception gave us a second ) and windows open it was still extremely muggy. Spa facilities were unusable there were a few chairs and loungers that were full and outside area of pool was overgrown and dirty We looked to move to a different hotel but all surrounding hotels were booked or else I would have simply gone to another hotel. Drinks and food are overpriced even for hotel standards Overall a terrible experience but again the staff were lovely and the scenery and views were amazing. A lot of potential but unfortunately drastically let down

The location was good for our trip. The reception staff, restaurant and bar staff were very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping was very good when requesting extra towels and the rooms were clean.

I requested interconnecting rooms during the booking stage. There was no communication to confirm this as we were a family of 4 with a teenage son and young daughter. I should have called. When we did arrive we were put into two rooms on different floors. Fortunately the second receptionist was helpful in moving us so our rooms were at least on the same floor and not far away. The rooms were nice.

The misses booked this hotel as surprise for my birthday i can truly say that i had a great day from playing golf at the driving range to my birthday meal where our hostess charlotte treated us like royalty and made our stay extra special

Very tired rooms. around the back of the hotel too Dog friendly rooms weren’t friendly to poor dogs in this heat. We got little sleep as our dog was so restless we had to keep damping towels to cool her.

Place was nice clean and comfy , was happy there was a ceiling fan and an extra one to help cool the room down .

Got rudely woken up by fire alarm way before I planned being awake !
