Akaroa Criterion Motel

A great location overlooking the bay and close to the supermarket. The room was good and will supplied. The key thing to call out though, is how accommodating the proprietors were when heavy rain flooded the local roads stranding tourists in the town for 36 hours and knocking out internet connections. The local economy immediately went cash only, but of course the ATM wasn’t working due to the loss of connectivity. The hotel owners very kindly dispensed cash to get us through as well as proving chewy updates and advice. The local community fire service kept everyone up to date on the state of the roads and were were eventually able to rearrange subsequent days of travel. Will done to the Criterion!

Great location in a corner room with view over the bay. Western sun keeping the room very warm.

Wifi very unreliable and unsecured so could not stay in touch with family during our stay.

We had the best room, very spacious, on the corner with uninterupted view from the balcony. Really nice spacious bathroom. Right in the centre of the town, it was easy to walk to everything.

Pillows were too fat & firm. Perked coffee tasted horrible, had to tip it out.

Fabulous location and incredibly clean. Staff offered me covered parking and laundry service during my stay. So very spacious too. Even better than the pix!
