We have recently returned from a wonderful 6-night stay at the Courtyard Phnom Penh.
ROOMS
We had an executive corner room (king) interconnecting with an executive twin room, and both were extremely spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The corner room in particular was massive, with ample room for a table, chair, L-shaped sofa and day bed. Plus, two of its four walls were floor-to-ceiling windows providing sweeping views of the city. It was a treat to look out the window at any time of day. The bed & pillows were also extremely comfy. Housekeeping was always perfect and extremely thorough.
BATHROOM
The bathrooms were similarly immaculate, modern and functional with ample amenities and Toto toilet. The corner room's bathroom was significantly bigger than the other room, with a rainshower cubicle, bathtub and window overlooking the city (with a privacy blind). The bathroom in the second room had a glass pane between the shower cubicle and bedroom, but there was a privacy blind here too.
DINING
Our rooms had club access, and we did enjoy some of the evening snacks in the lounge in the 20th floor. We also enjoyed lots of food from the Mekong Restaurant on level 1, which also supplies room service. There is a breakfast buffet available, and they also leave a breakfast pre-ordering menu in the room, which you can complete and hang on your door handle before midnight to order your in-room breakfast for the following day. I had not seen that service at a hotel before, and thought it was a really good idea. The offerings were extensive, with everything you would expect from breakfast, such as cereals, bakery items, fruit juices, eggs, fresh fruit, grilled vegetables, hash browns, coffee, cakes etc.
We also tried the hotel's dinner offerings, both from the Mekong Restaurant and on the rooftop Deck. This included both Western (burgers, pizza, pasta etc.) and Cambodian dishes (lok lak, stir fry chicken) and everything was absolutely delicious. The cocktails & mocktails on the Deck were similarly amazing. I highly recommend going up there to enjoy food, drinks and a great view.
LOCATION
The hotel is very centrally located within Phnom Penh, just a 10-min tuk tuk or Grab ride from major sights such as the Royal Palace, Genocide Museum and several of the city's beautiful temples.
STAFF
The people in Cambodia were some of the loveliest we have ever met, and the staff at the hotel were no exception. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. I celebrated a milestone birthday while I was there, and so many of the staff members put in extra efforts to make the day memorable - a birthday cake at breakfast, a beautifully decorated table at the Deck for dinner, another delicious cake for dessert, singing happy birthday... it was all just so lovely and thoughtful and is something I will never forget.
Big thanks to everyone who made our stay just perfect: Sarah, Noemie & Kimsoin, who run a brilliant property; Naro & the other reception staff, who were all extremely helpful and professional; and Kimhee, Sok Ey, Suntry, Panha, Ravinder and all the other restaurant staff - at the Deck, the Mekong and in room service - who were absolute gems. We truly enjoyed our wonderful conversations with you all and will never forget your warm hospitality. You are all assets to the team.
A highly recommended property for anyone visiting Phnom Penh - whether for business or pleasure.
