Poderia haver mais variedade no pequeno almoço ,como por exemplo bolos caseiros ,compotas caseiras da região e máquina de café

It was a great treat to stay in a place with such history and character. Maria is the consummate host, even going out of her way to drive us to a nearby restaurant when she spotted us waiting at the bus stop. The swimming pool is lovely and the views over the sea unbeatable. Breakfast was generous and served in the pretty courtyard on warmer mornings. We enjoyed the location in between Angra and Sao Mateus. This is a wonderful property for those who appreciate charm and individuality.

We had a great stay at Quinta das Merces. The property is beautiful, with its ancient house and chapel, and the terrace above the beautiful gardens, the pool and the sea. We have enjoyed its calm, and most of all the warm welcome of the landlady and her commitment to ease our visits and reservations at Angra do Heroismo.

Only one point to notice, which is completely independant from our host's will. The public road that leads to the house is dangerous for pedestrians, as the sidewalks (when existing) are extremely narrow, and the cars are driven too fast. This should be really taken into account, especially if you have kids with you. The situation is for sure different if you access the Quinta by car.
