Guesthouse Anja

Overall an excellent stay. The management and staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The only downside to the location is that on a Fri and Sat night the music is really loud - it shuts down (precisely) at 1am. If you can live with this then the hotel is an excellent choice with a good bar/restaurant attached where they serve your breakfast. Only 2 mins from the main square and stone bridge and also handy for the bus station.

I stayed at Anja for a weekend. The room was nice, the food good, the location perfect and the staff absolutely superb. Their genuine intrest in the guests well being and their excelent extended service made the stay a pure joy! I am glad I stayed at Anja

My boyfriend and I spent 6 nights at Anja and from the minute we were picked up by the shuttle (arranged with the hotel) until we were dropped off at the airport we were treated superbly. The staff were friendly and very helpful ( one of the waiters Bobby was fantastic!) and the breakfasts were fab! The restaurant below the hotel is modern and comfortable with a good menu which is reasonably priced and on more than one occasion we were given drinks on the house. The hotel is located on the quayside and is one of 8 pubs/restaurants so it can be quite noisy until the early hours -this was not an issue for us.The walls between rooms are quite thin and at times we could hear other guests conversations but this did not cause us any problems.It is also just off a shopping centre and a 2 minute walk from the main square where there are numerous restaurants/bars as well as impressive new statues. All in all we had a great time at Anja and feel it represents very good value for money and would stay there again if we return to Macedonia.

Excellent location for business or tourist travellor, the staff are very cordial and supportive. You'll only pay more but never get better service than this hotel. Not posh, but comfortable, clean and service oriented. I frequently stay while travelling through Skopje.

Very convenient location but too hard to find. In the evenings, no one works at the hotel, so you have to go to the Anja restaurant-- NOT next to hotel-- for check-in. No one told us this, so we waited at the hotel for a long time. Otherwise, hotel is fine. But really need better signs or even to staff the hotel.

Booked 2 double rooms. 3 adults stayed 2nights,then further 3 nights after a stay in mountains at Ohrid (very beautiful). Staff at hotel really helpful and friendly, airport taxi service cheap and on time. Beds comfy, and rooms basic, compact, but comfy. Room 3 bathroom very small, not suitable for elderly/slightly disabled person. Skylight double room was OK- very soundproofed. Location- 5 mins to main square and easy walking distance to all main sights, cafes,bars etc. Only drawback was deafening music to 2am and then 4am on first 2 nights from bar next door. No probs on last 3 nights so hotelier complaints must have worked! Restaurant was fine and as with all Skopje cafes, very cheap. We had breakfast menu meals on first 2 nights but then chose other things of similar price from menu instead eg pancakes. There was no problem with this. 2 top tips- a)bring travel kettle for morning tea in bed (yes - you guessed, I'm over 40) b) use escalators in shopping centre to haul cases up to 2nd level where entrance to hotel is located. Useful to know if stairs are a problem. OVERALL-very good value and fab location.

First of all the location of this hotel is great, it is right at the heart of the city and you can walk almost anywhere that needs to be seen. One problem for us was getting to the hotel by car. Because of some major construction going on in Skopje downtown some roads are closed, if you are going there by car look for "Holiday Inn" since you will park your car in their garage anyway, and Hotel Anja is just a short walk from Holiday Inn. I also recommend having a dinner at their restaurant, it is very nice and also preferred by locals. Another interesting (and positive) thing was that eventhough the hotel was at the center, it was very quiet. On the downside there is no elevator, however they help with the luggage and all of the rooms are on the second floor. As a summary I recommend this hotel to everyone who is visiting Skopje for the first time or for the tenth time, we really enjoyed the service.

This hotel should be rated as three star hotel. We had a very pleasent stay at Hotel Anja.

If you are after a central location in Skopje, Anja would be on your short list. It is close to all of the attractions that are currently being built and once finished you will have an excellent view of the new Law court, various museums and the Stone Bridge; if it were not for a new building just erected you wold have been able to see the stunning statue of Alexsandar of Macedon. The room was very clean and had an interesting fit out. You have some stair to negotiate to get to the hotel, but the waiters downstair are more than happy to assist; they all speak English. Definitely for those who what to be close to the action and plan on taking advantage of the various cafes and bars downstairs along with the famed Macedonian hospitality.

This is without a doubt the best value and hotel in the city center. The staff was extremely polite and very helpful. I will certainly stay at this hotel in my future travels to Skopje!
