The name is misleading and suggests that the hotel is going to be much more grand than it is. It was very tired looking and on one of the hottest days pf the year the air conditioning was not working. In fact apparently was only working in 7 of the rooms in the entire hotel.

We stayed at Frederick’s Hotel mid-week expecting a relaxing 4-star spa hotel experience, but unfortunately the overall experience did not justify the price charged. The property felt very dated and underinvested. Our room was tired, with maintenance issues including a constantly dripping tap. Normally that would have been a minor annoyance, except we had to run a fan continuously overnight because the room became unbearably warm. One of the biggest frustrations was the lack of air conditioning. While the website appears to show air conditioning units in some of the room photos, there is no clear statement explaining that all rooms do not actually have air conditioning. Given the price point, this felt misleading by omission, especially during warmer weather. There were also several smaller operational issues which, together, gave the impression of a hotel cutting corners: * Two beer pumps had run dry in the bar with no offer to change barrels. * Dinner service finishing at 7:45pm feels unusually early for a hotel of this type. * At both breakfast and in the spa area, staff began tidying and effectively shutting down around 15 minutes before the advertised closing time, which made guests feel rushed and unwelcome. *The continental breakfast was small, meagre options and not worth the money, leaving you no choice but to choose the more expensive hot option. *the fire safety instructions look like they have been drawn up 50 years ago and not updated since, falling below the modern UK fire safety standards and best practice. The hotel markets itself as a premium spa destination, but the experience currently feels much closer to an average, dated hotel charging premium prices. To then charge these rates mid-week without breakfast included makes the value proposition even harder to justify. The overall impression was not one catastrophic problem, but rather a steady accumulation of small disappointments, poor maintenance, and lack of attention to guest experience.

We travelled for worked and was "wowed" by this hotel! The Staff were all friendly and attentive and helpful, the breakfast was great, i had a cheese and mushroom omelette which was lovely. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the shower was lovely but our favourite part of the stay was the spa. The gentleman on front desk was so lovely and helpful and absolutely made our stay. the swim out pool, sauna and steam room was a lovely treat after a long day at work. We will definitely be returning. We have another work event in July and will be looking to rebook here!

If anything, the bed could have been a little comfier as it was a little springy, but other than that, i have no other complaints.

Poor toaster & coffee dispenser. Need upgrading. No fresh fruit on Sunday buffet breakfast. No choice of pastries.

We went yesterday to the hotel and spa and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, and all the staff were amazing. A special thank you to Al from the spa reception, who greeted us with such warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm. He made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this place. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable!

Location for attending a local wedding. Ample parking.

fire procedure (alarm went off at 3am and various things then happened - no checking all staying residents had evacuated, non convincing response as to why the alarm was set off, doors which wouldn’t open properly), slowness of drinks at the bar, air con didn’t work and fan not put together properly to use, hot water took 10 minutes to heat, unable to move shower head with soaking the bathroom, no ceiling light

Friendly, helpful staff. Well furnished, comfortable room ( except for lack of working air-conditioning, see below ). Lovely gardens. Excellent breakfast. And no fire alarm going off during the night ( as happened on our recent previous stay! ).

Lack of working air conditioning unit meant that it was necessary to keep windows open at night in recent extreme heat wave conditions. The electric fan which had been provided as a substitute for, whilst efficient was noisy. This together with considerable traffic noise from the road meant little sleep … again!

The location was great for my purposes.

The bathroom could have done with a better clean, cabinet door was missing, Extractor fan didn't work. The room was very warm and the aircon barely did anything. I had booked a small double room but it was just a twin room with the beds pushed together, with separate sheets and duvets etc. Breakfast had no fresh fruit on offer and the fruit juices were from concentrate. Overall it was disappointing for the money.
