Better than the reviews, it was a very big hotel and clean

Limited staff on duty, so had to wait for bar and reception sometimes

We were slightly hesitant about booking this hotel after reading some of the previous reviews, but we’re so glad we did — we genuinely couldn’t fault our stay. The staff were all lovely, particularly the receptionist who made us feel very welcome and was incredibly helpful, as well as the gentleman in the spa who was cheerful and friendly. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and everything was in perfect working order. The bed was especially comfortable, which made for a really relaxing stay. The spa facilities were clean and well-maintained, and we really enjoyed the outdoor pool. The surrounding gardens were also beautifully kept and added to the overall experience. We didn’t dine at the hotel as we had other plans, but we did notice it holds a 5-star hygiene rating, which was reassuring. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would absolutely return in the future.

Ample fee parking. Lovely building and location. Good facilities including a spa. Room was comfy, clean and a good size.

Restaurant stopped serving dinner at 8pm. As I was delayed in traffic it meant I could not get any food on arrival. TV would not work properly. Could only get a handful of digital channels and the subtitles would not turn off. In the morning TV would not turn on at all. May have just been the remote control but annoying none the less.

Location to a wedding venue was excellent

God where to start. On the way to hotel I looked at reviews and our experience was the same so no surprise there. Room was not clean, had rose petals and not an empty bin left for us. Room smelled of mold and old cigarettes. Desperately need upgrade. We had the room where the tap in the bathroom run hot water 24/7. It didn’t drip it run. Breakfast was basic for 4 stars I expected more. I don’t believe that staff knows what it means to work for a 4staff hotel- this is on owners training or compensation. Overheard maids talking about zero hrs contract as we were passing now that answers a lot of questions about the place. The gym - none of equipment worked, when my husband turned a treadmill on he tripped the fuse and the lights weren’t out. The floor waiting for someone to trip and sue them. Just sad looking hotel. Might have been great about 30 years ago but is a bit sad. We booked dinner for 7 pm and were told that they only had 4 things left on the menu. Spa worked- again limescale everywhere, dated and old. Shame.
