Great hotel with an amazing room in an amazing old duch house!! Friendly staff and great location! Great to stay!

Nice hotel on the outside but room and bathroom dated. Food very disappointing, most of the menu not available.Worst breakfast in South Africa in 5 years, no fruit juice in the morning waiting for the supplier !!! Deffnately not an African Pride or Protea Hotel which we found to be excellent. Will never visit or stay at this hotel

I recently stayed at Audacia with my husband for the latter half of our honeymoon. It’s hard to say much other than WOW. From the moment we were greeted by Shannon, the General Manager, we were awestruck by the customer service, impeccable recommendations made for activities, and places to eat. Furthermore, upon arriving at said recommendations, we would often find incredibly thoughtful touches made to further our experiences, such as surprise desserts that were carried out on behalf of Shannon. All staff was eager to make our stay magical. We can both confidently say that we have never experienced such incredible customer service and would recommend Audacia to our own loved ones.

This was actually a last minute booking because the previous placed I booked was not adequate nor matched everything that I saw online. I wasn't looking for anything fancy but this place was one of the only ones still available that offered free breakfast and WiFi in my room with a good location. Everything about the stay was great. They were all incredibly accommodating and did a wonderful job of welcoming me and making me feel at home. Specifically Shannon, the general manger, knows how to treat her guest and provides individual attention to help ensure you have a great stay. I'd return in a heartbeat and plan on it the next time I visit Durban.

The architecture of the hotel is one of the best I have seen, old style and colonial feel. Difficult to find staff to assist but Shannon, the general manager is outstanding! She was trying to accommodate everyone and reflects courtesy, professionalism and efficiency so effortlessly. Even though she was assisting several people, her friendly smile never vanished. Slee the waitress couldn't assist many people, she was not very confident, I had a special request for my room and she had to get the manager to assist. Shannon went above and beyond to ensure this was met despite the fact that she was busy. She also followed up during my stay and ensured I was comfortable through. Management should consider hiring extra hands to assist on busy days to eliminate waiting periods. I had a wonderful stay, the Berkshire room is great, spacious and has a balcony with a great view. Also Surrey and Sussex rooms have great views of the sea. Breakfast was disappointing, don't expect eggs to perfection. Will be back later this year.

Recently visited the restaurant after hearing great reviews about the place but utterly disappointed. Went to the restaurant for lunch which had 4 other tables, not busy in my opinion. Waited 15 minutes to be attended to. Eventually Pindile sat us down. Quite a clumsy waitress, ordered red wine, received white wine. Ordered med rare fillet received a well done fillet 40 minutes later. Wanting to give it one last try, Ordered chocolate brownies for dessert received stale old brownies. Had to go to the kitchen to look for the waiter and found the chef eating off a plate waiting to be sent out. With her mouthful, Thando confirmed there is only one manager who was busy attending to others, we couldn't wait. We paid the bill and left and don't think we'd return for another poor experience.

Enquired about a function after seeing a hotel video on social media and not knowing the house existed and my word was I amazed. Stunning house in the perfect location. I frequent the hotels in the area with no knowledge of this mansion! The manager Shannon goes above and beyond. I was informed about the history, shown different areas, given a range of options, and well taken care of even though I went unannounced and found the chef reading a newspaper at the entrance. I read a prior review about Shannons passion and I too felt the genuineness despite other people waiting for her to assist and her carrying a handset answering calls that the waiter interrupted our meeting to hand to her, with her patience, friendly conversation and willingness to help I was ready to book. Before booking my event I obviously went on to taste the food that I cannot emphasise how important it is to me and boy was I disappointed! Ordered a pear salad and a fillet, and didnt enjoy either. The chef rudely slapped the meal together because I interrupted her reading. The waiter did give me the heads up that the better chef was not on duty. What a sad pity that this perfect hotel has the perfect location, the perfect look, the perfect manager and the perfect homely venue BUT the food speaks volumes and I would definitely not want the chef anywhere close to my catering. There is an option to do your own catering at a fee, which will definitely be the option to go with if you book. I didn't complain to Shannon but I did to the chef directly and she giggled. Go figure!

Been travelling around and its not often you get to stay in a colonial style heritage building. I was advised by the manager its a heritage site and close to 100 years. Staff are scarce but when visible excellent service. New owners taking pride in the appearance and services. Manager well educated about the history of the building and arranged my itinerary with no hiccups. Only negative is meals. Chef Tando did not have any knowledge of meals prepared. Rather opt to book a room with no breakfast.

So if you're thinking about a place to chill and hangout with some privacy and peaceful surroundings, this is the place to be! We booked a table for lunch with out of towners and had a joyous time. Celebrated my grans 85th birthday and the manager designed a special birthday plate with my grans name wishing her, that was very special and my gran was stoked! The staff made my grans birthday very unique when they sang. Food is average, could do better, we could hear the chef speaking ina foreign language. But the venue is excellent. Initmate and personal service.

I am currently attending a workshop at the hotel and had the pleasure of being served by the General Manager, Shannon herself. I don't generally do the review thing but after hearing her story and seeing a manager for the first time meeting and greeting customers instead of hiding behind a closed office door, I had to share my experience. The hotel is undergoing a few changes after removing itself from a brand and going onto their own independent platform, Shannon is living her dream in the name of Audacia Manor and proved in the 2 days I've been here to be a real asset to the owners. I was hoping to chat to the owner who is also currently at the hotel to share my opinion about what an asset he has running the manor, but unfortunately didn't due to my time constraints and the workshop. I myself come from humble beginnings and hearing the self drive, dedication and enthusiasm coming from a young lady in today's society is indeed a liberating feeling. When someone speaks with passion about a job rather than generalizing, I immediately draw my attention to it. You will reach your OWN dream one day young lady, for now learn from the experience and continue to keep the hotel going on your positive outlook. The waiters have been going all out to ensure we were taken care of. Our lunch orders were taken in advance to avoid us waiting due to the time limit. The food is delicious and well presented. The snacks served with tea during breaks were not your ordinary ones. Friendly and helpful staff all around, Slieh who served drinks has an inviting character and it was noticeable she was doing her best. Keep up the good work Shannon and team! Look ahead and strive for what you believe in. I will definitely frequent the hotel to follow up on the progress as I believe the young lady will take the hotel to great heights. All the best!
