"Disappointed given great reviews."

6.0

We were quite disappointed to be honest, after reading so many positive reviews. We found the rooms to be very dated and in quite poor condition - paint peeling off the ceiling in the tiny shower, all the surfaces and cupboards were a bit grimy and the general feel and décor felt very outdated. The pub itself is lovely, although the toilets could definitely do with a refurb and the bin area between the pub and the rooms behind the pub was very dirty and smelly. Breakfast was included and was quite nice, but we had to eat between 8.30 and 9.30 am one day and on New Years Day we were told that if we wanted breakfast, we'd need to eat between 8.30 and 9am because they were very busy in the restaurant later that day, which I didn't think was particularly friendly or fair. Overall, very hard to justify the £95/night rate.

Lovely rooms above the pub. Bathroom could do with a revamp though

"Clean comfortable, no thrills room in a acountry v"

Nice old English village with a local shop, 2 pubs with friendly locals, one Convenient store and a duck pond. The room was clean but the stairs leading to the room were a bit gloomy.

Very nice country pub with friendly staff, restaurant was lovely and the food really nice, big drawback on our room, was not up to the £95 pound standard, pretty basic no where to put toiletries in the toilet which just has a phone box shower in it, was in the converted barn which I had to climb up iron stairs to get to, and no sleep at all because of a green light above our door on the inside of the room, would not stay again,

Staff are nice and the location is lovely. The food is also really good. However, the room was a bit grubby in places, and the hallway leading to our room had a strong smell of cigarettes. At about 11pm, the live-in waitresses we're talking quite loudly in the room next to ours, we had to knock on their door to ask them to be keep the noise down, which they did, to be fair. Overall, not a bad stay, but given what I've mentioned above, maybe a tad pricey.

"Small expensive family room."

6.0

Disappointed in the size and standard of family room for the price paid, £109 for one night compared to £32 the previous night at an M4 Travelodge. A MUCH better room, size and facilities. Breakfast was very nice however and the staff. Also the pub itself.
