The Mill House Inn

Loved our short stay at this hotel, my type of place, a bit quirky and out of the way, but not far from where you want to visit. Steepish uneven staircases won't suit everyone, but room was clean and comfortable, food was excellent and service great. No, there aren't table cloths or candles on the tables in the restaurant, it's not 'chic' like that, but it's full of character and homely, and as mentioned the food was exceptional.

This old building looks good from the outside, but don't be fooled. It's very rundown and shabby inside. Our room was tiny and very poor value for the price. I had to duck my head to walk the hallways. Breakfast is good and staff are nice.

We love staying in places with history but this placed needed a deep cleaning. Dusty, cobwebs and items left by previous guests. Obvious that covid cleaning is non-existant.

The breakfast was excellent. The room needed a good spring clean and the bathroom needed a spring clean too. Walls needed washing and there was thick dust on the blind. The rooms needed redecoration really.

Our room was so dirty. There were multiple cobwebs and spiders. A layer of dust was on the lamps, side tables, doors, trim work, around the shower inside and out and the carpet was old and dirty. I like old and even quirky with different levels of an old building. But to have it be dirty is disgusting. The old mattress did not have anything other than a sheet over it. When I shut the curtains, there was an insect in the folds. I was hesitant to eat breakfast after seeing the state of the room, but we tried it and there was a great selection. But again, dirty walls, cobwebs behind the log burner, dirty tea pot spout. I’m sure this would be a great place if only it were clean.

Love where the hotel is set, but not sure i can stay here again. Rooms are dirty and cutlery was pretty dirty too

Our stay was amazing, the room was comfortable and the shower was large. The room was full of character. Drinks in the bar was great, entertaining and super friendly, we really felt welcomed. We ate at the restaurant and the food was incredible, breakfast was the best breakfast we’ve ever had. The price is fantastic, I am so glad we’ve found this gem of a place because we sure will be back!
