"Brilliant introduction to Chile"

8.0

Doris and Carolina were extremely hospitable and told us lots about Chile. Breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented. Nothing was too much trouble! Easy to get to town centre and sights on foot but recommend taxi on way back up the hill. Very good value for money.

"Staying at Grandmas house"

8.0

Great value but a little cluttered like grandmas house. Lots and lots of antiques all over the place. Super friendly ladies running the place and helpful info. Nice to be in the hills over the city.

"Great view!"

8.0

We were catching a cruise and had a night to spend in Valparaiso. Wanted something unique to the area. Found this lovely old house....now hotel/bed and breakfast. The building is close to 100 years old and high up the mountain. The house is full of family heirlooms almost to the point of clutter. Doris is a lovely young lady who runs the B & B with her twin sister. She went out of her way to assist us in whatever we needed or wanted. She picked us up from the bus terminal and took us to the pier. The rooms are decorated in Victorian Style and have great windows that overlook the city and ocean. Breakfast was tasty and ample. I would definitely recommend to those that like to get acquainted with a new city.

"Very nice hotel with a lovely sight of Valpo"

8.0

The only complain I could have is that it is a bit on the expensive side, but the rooms are all very nice and clean and most have a nice view of Valpo. Owners are very friendly and the breakfast they serve is very complete. It's easy to get back to the hotel after spending the night bar hopping; just take a "colectivo" (shared taxi) from Plaza Italia and tell the driver to drop you off at an specific ascensor (ask the hotel owner for the specific name). If you are new to Valpo and get there by car I would suggest arriving when there is still daylight as the streets up the hill are very confusing and you will need to ask a local for directions.

"Fabulous hostesses Carolina & Doris."

10.0

Have never felt so welcome. These two ladies have done wonders with this house. If you are into antiques you will be awed with what they have. They couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely see them again. We were there in the fall and are sure if you are there in the summer the flowers will be spectacular.

"Visit march 2014"

8.0

Just like pictures advertised. The owners love their grand house and it shows. Remember it is a house. Dining is far away however the sisters prepare a nicely served breakfast and will serve up a lovely chowder and sandwich upon request. Valporasio is a place to visit once but the view from the patio is lovely.

"Disppointing"

4.0

The hotel (it is a bed & breakfast) is at the top of the mountain. The road led us to the hotel was very narrow and steep. Very very very hard to drive. There is no sign on the house indicating it is a hotel. We had to stop to ask someone in the neighborhood (shaddy) to find the place. Once we got in and found that the hallway had old and dity carpets. Everthing is old in the house. The view from the house was excellent though. However that was not the hotel I was expecting. We did not want to stay there anymore. I asked the manager or the owner if I can cancel the booking. She refused and charged us one night without stay.

"A taste of Valparaiso"

10.0

Our hosts, twins Doris and Christina, were gracious hosts. The picked us up from the bus terminal, and upon arrival to the house, gave us freshly made jugo natural, provided a map of the city and directions of where to go. After our welcome, we settled in to our delightful light and airy rooms, decorated by the mother of the family. The overall décor was a combination of antique furniture and collectibles. Doris walked us down the hill to show us where to catch the trolley and colectivo to get around the city and back to the house. The beds were very comfortable and with windows that open in my room, I was able to sleep with the air of Valparaiso wafting over me, awaking to the rising sun. Lovely. After a wonderful night's rest, we headed to the garden balcony (created and cared for by Christina) to a enjoy a wonderful and relaxed breakfast of fresh juice, coffee, bread, egg, ham, yogurt and more. So much food prepared with love and presented beautifully. If you want to experience a little bit of Valparaiso life vs. staying in a big hotel, this is a great place to stay. My friend and I had booked one room with two beds. Doris ended up giving us each a separate room at the same price which was wonderful. At the end of our stay, Doris loaded our luggage into her car and took us back to the bus station. Delightful stay overall. I highly recommend this B&B. Book ahead. The place was full each night we were there.
