"Likely one of the best B&Bs in Cerro La Cruz"

8.0

Overall, very positive experience with this hotel and its Staff (Doris and Carolina). The neighborhood around this B&B is kinda shady in appearance but during the day it felt safe and in the evenings we'd simply take the collectivo, which is like a lower cost taxi at about 450 pesos/person (like $0.90 USD). When heading to the Grand House we were worried about the surrounding environment. The house, however, has been well taken care of and it shows. When you finally enter the house and see it, you will breathe a sigh of relief.

"All rooms with a fabulous views of Valparaiso"

10.0

My wife and I spent two nights at the Grand House and had a wonderful experience. The proprietors are sisters who both speak English, and we had several long and interesting conversations--they are delightful, gracious and very helpful people! The house is charming--built almost 100 years ago and adorned with many collections, including china, paintings and family photos. The view from our room--and from all the guest rooms, as far as we could tell--was fabulous, with a full unobstructed view of the harbor and the hills surrounding the city, the houses immediately below, and the city itself directly below. It's a steep but short walk down the hill (cerro) to the city, and a ride back up the hill in the shared cabs (collectivos), which all leave from Parque Italia, is fast, reliable and only $1 per person! The sisters told us about the cabs, the low-cost trolleys and buses, and gave us many other great tips, including a traditional, reasonable and very atmospheric downtown restaurant call Cinzano. Pablo Neruda's Valparaiso house/museum is just a few minutes away on an adjacent hill, via the public 'Zero' bus. I can't imagine anyone not having a great time at this place. The cost of the room was about half the rate we paid at our hotel in Santiago.

"This place is an experience. The good kind."

10.0

We stayed here for a night before our cruise. We took a bus from Santiago and it dropped us off about a mile from this Bed and Breakfast. I don’t normally stay at a Band B but it was the only place left that had good reviews. The reviews are right. The place was the best place we stayed at on our trip. It is run by two sisters that are the nicest people that you will ever meet. They even served us an afternoon tea on the patio that overlooks the town. They both speak English and Spanish. The view from your room is better than nearly any part of the town. Staying here gave us the feeling of being part of the town rather than just staying at a normal hotel that does not offer the experience of this charming town. If I ever leave out of this port town again, I would without hesitation stay here again. They even gave me a ride to the cruise terminal which is about a half mile from this place. The place is filled with beautiful antiques and will blow you away. It looks like the photos do.

"Cutest hotel- a jewel in Valparaiso"

10.0

We loved our stay at the hotel. The owners are the nicest and the most helpful people we have ever encountered. We felt like we were not simply "customers", we were "guests" at their adorable house. The house/hotel is as unique as it gets- we felt like we were staying at a museum. It is super clean. The breakfast was exquisite. It is simply not possible to ask for more.

"Family Feel in Valparaiso."

10.0

Fantastic home in an older part of Valparaiso. This older family home dominating a knoll above the City hosts immaculate rooms decorated in antique furniture. You are made to feel at home. English is not a problem but spanish is preferred like most of Chile. The daughters that run this Bed and Breakfast set us up with a welcoming plate of food, and treated us to a gourmet breakfast on an outdoor terrace overlooking the City. Quaint decorations adorn the home and the squeaky wood floors remind you that this place feels like home. Indeed, they know when you are coming downstairs and great with with a smile and warmth. Best to drive in on France Street and turn up Vallejos to Garibaldi. Found it on my first try after studying Google Earth.

"Cute and welcoming with great views"

10.0

This old-style bed & breakfast is adorable. It's run by two wonderful sisters who are incredibly welcoming and even make you delicious crepe suzette in the morning. Expect lots and lots of cute trinkets and lacy fabrics adorning almost every surface. The views are stunning and the beds are super comfortable. It's a 4000 peso-ride from the bus station and a 5000-ride to Cerro Concepcion where most restaurants and shops are found.

"Lovely, friendly atmosphere"

10.0

The sisters who run this hotel are absolutely wonderful. They were friendly and accommodating and just pleasant to be around. The rooms were beautiful, the view was outstanding and all the small amenities such as snacks and beverages were well thought out. They went out of their way to make our stay a very pleasant experience and I highly recommend this B and B to anyone who wants to see Valparaiso.

"Wonderful"

10.0

Excellent spot up in the hills. Beautiful view of the city. Wonderful hostesses one of whom speaks pretty good English. A little hard to find. Our taxi driver got lost several times on the way (with the meter still running of course). Also confusing when asking directions as there is also a Gran Hotel in the Valparaiso.

"Interesting. If not a little quirky."

8.0

Very interesting to stay in a ace that probably reflects days gone by in Valparaiso rather than modern Valparaiso. Filled with furnishings and nicnacs from a different era, the place smacked of someone's grandma's house... And that is exactly what it was. The sisters who run the place were very nice, and on the whole, this was a very unique stay... At times me and my father (who was travelling with me) were a little creeped out by how efficient and neat the sisters were (walk down stairs to breakfast, room messy. Walk back upstairs after breakfast, room tidy. VERY tidy). They also had a great breakfast spread, probably on par with some of the big corporate hotel chains, but home cooked.

"True Valparaiso stay"

10.0

We only spent one night in this hotel - we got more than expected there. The two ladies who run the hotel are truly local and own the hotel, so you can see how much they love this place and how much they care about you having a great stay. Amazing view to the rest of the city and convenient location. They also give the best tips to discover amazing places in the city, The hotel-house has a feeling of history in all its decoration and antiques. The few hours we spent there made our time.
