Quinta da Palmeira - Country House Retreat & Spa

We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed the location, our Panorama suite with large bathroom and beautiful views. Relaxing in garden, delicious surprisemenus, visited some unic spots. The owners made us feel welcome.

Sure. Busiest month. We had THE WORST room imaginable. We booked a Jr Suite but were downgraded (I guess) (without arguments) to a Superior Room which was located directly on the street (see our photo). No Air-Con. Hotel property is not a country retreat but located in middle of a village with THE nicest swiss owners who serve as receptionist, cook, waiter, etc. Nice hotel but the worst rooms for us(Green Tea Superior Room)- too small and right on street with no air con.

From Check-in, over the welcome tour, to the (superior) room, garden, pool, the dinner (must have!) and the breakfast, this small family owned and run house is extremly focussed on details, very high quality and a maximum of hospitality. The only negative aspect was, that we could only stay for two nights. This stay shows, how the business can be run with absolute passion and perfection, although I am quite sure, the owner see it as much more than that. Happy to come back Astrid & Stefan

We had an amazing room, with a superb, huge , bathroom . Lovely views and a wonderful setting . Excellent TV stations, so we were even able to watch the royal wedding !! Jack and his wife were excellent hosts , the food was outstanding , and how delightful to have a “surprise “ menu ! Terrific local produce , perfect choices and portions . The tobkerone ice cream was to die for !!!! The grounds were lovely , and the interior design stunning . Couldn’t be better.

Superbly renovated Country House with beautiful gardens and pool...unfortunately we arrived in a thunderstorm and woke up with thick mountain mist everywhere. Efficient and friendly service from owner Jack and his partner Ana who does the cooking. Breakfast simple but good and 'surprise' dinners excellent and a nice change from the rather large Portuguese style meals we had been eating on our trip so far. Excellent wine list at reasonable prices. Excellent WiFi Great location in mountains with lots to do in car or walking although views somewhat spoilt from damage of hughe 2017 forest fires. Only problem we had is hot water down when we arrived and subsequent 'fix' did not work for good showers. Plumber arriving as we left! Would love to stay again when the sun is shining!

Wonderful, quiet location away from the regular tourist track. Awesome property with big rooms, great pool, and really wonderful "surprise dinners" made by their chef. The meals here were probably some of the best meals we had in Portugal during our two week trip. The drink and wine selection was also superb! Location was in a small village with no services - but it was short drive to bigger village with everything anyone might need; and close to hiking trails in the forest, waterfalls, and the Schist villages of the region.

Good place to stay to relax, enjoy the swimming pool and the good service (breakfast, dinner, etc.) The room was very clean and comfortable. I recommend.

Stimmiges Boutique-Hotel mit viel Hingabe und Auge für Details eingerichtet. Ana, Jack und Vanessa umsorgten uns auf familiäre und sympathische Art und Weise! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Niché dans les collines de la province d'Arganil, cet établissement entouré d'orangers et d'oliviers, est digne de ses 5 étoiles : des chambres magnifiques et très spacieuses, décorées avec raffinement (toutes différentes paraît-il), et d'une propreté immaculée. La cuisine, sobre et raffinée, du petit déjeuner au dîner (les croissants maison du petit déjeuner, servis encore chauds, méritent à eux seuls le détour !). L'accueil est chaleureux, et le service irréprochable. Une adresse à recommander très vivement. Un seul conseil : le GPS, indispensable pour se repérer dans les routes et les petits villages de montagne.
