Great hotel in a good location. Friendly staff that managed to be attentive without being over the top. Best hotel we've used in Chania.

The two fellows who run Splanzia are eager to please: thoughtful, sweet, capable. The room was spotless, basic, sufficient and little more. Breakfast was typically Cretan - healthy, varied and in large quantity! The location was excellent, we had no trouble with street noise but were near the essentials in lovely Chania.

Awesome lovely small boutique hotel located right in the heart of the old town...Room was gorgeous, and huge btw! VERY comfortable and beautifully decorated evoking old-world charm...Outdoor courtyards and walkouts were lovely too and we saved a fortune not having to take a taxi anywhere at all. But truly the breakfast buffet was simply beyond anything you could expect, all food was delicious, hot, made fresh....hats off to the chef! Exceptional service as well by the owners, only a family-owned hotel would ever be run with this high level of service. The location of the hotel is hard to beat. The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful in helping find great restaurants or navigating your way to some of the attractions on the island. The breakfasts served in the morning are outstanding and there is something available for everyone. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is centrally located between the old and new city and close to the bus station, making it easy to get around. The fact that it is not clustered near the touristy part of town made it much more enjoyable for us as we like to get the real feel of where we are traveling to. (If I wanted to be around other tourists, then I'd stay in NYC for that!) The hotel is cozy and I felt right at home. The room was a nice mix of traditional and modern, was clean, and well kept. We especially enjoyed our hosts hospitality and the wonderful breakfast included. Best hotel in Chania!

Superb location in a beautifully converted old Turkish house in the old town. Excellent breakfast served in the courtyard in the centre of the house. Friendly, helpful owners who went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable experience.

Nikos and Yonni bent over backwards to make our stay amazing. The breakfast is outstanding as the great food seems never ending . I wanted to stay another night but our plans didn't allow it. I recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. If I ever have the opportunity to return to Chania, I will definitely stay here again!!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Splanzia for four nights. For starters, the location is perfect if you want easy access (a few blocks away) to the waterfront tourist area but also would like to escape it all for a decent night's rest. If you want absolute, suburban quiet, however, I don't recommend staying ANYWHERE in Hania. However, Splanzia (the neighborhood and the hotel) is much quieter than the waterfront. There are reasonable, good restaurants on the same street, as well as a bakery, a convenience kiosk and a small grocery, which sells fresh fruit. What is really apparent is that the folks that run Splanzia really care about their guest's lodging experience; as such, the service is outstanding (Breakfast in the shady courtyard is absolutely fantastic and really adds to the value of this hotel.), and the entire hotel is very, very clean and tidy and the spacious rooms have excellent air conditioning. As a bonus, they offer free wi-fi, and I never had a problem connecting to it from my room, the lobby, the courtyard or the rooftop terrace using my handheld. In the end, if our travels take us back to Hania, we will definitely stay at Hotel Splanzia.

I was very happy with the choice I made. The hosts, Nikos and Yanni went above the call of duty to help us enjoy our holiday. I was going to select a hotel closer to the harbor, but as I walked around and heard the noise of that area, the little walk that we had was worth the quiet. You will love this place.
