We stayed in a couple of Pousadas during our travel through Portugal, but I must say that this Hospedaria stole our hearts! The place is in the middle of nowhere. Said to be only 7 Km from Braga, there is but one signage of the Convent in the road through the village. A tall column, open ground and a sprawling monastery compound is what you see at first sight...all deserted. Go in through the door and we were in front of warm receptionist Liliana. The Hotel has only 9 rooms. These rooms used to be cells and hence are not big but well designed with ample use of glass. ..not just in the rooms but also in the sliding doors opening up to the monastery and courtyards. No dinner unfortunately possible that day at the Hotel since the dining room staff were given an off....Liliana helped us out by placing an order with takeaway joints for Pizza, salads etc..which we had in the empty drawing room/lounge. A visit to the monastery and church is included in the cost...and I had a great time walking around the monastery for more than an hour...past the vineyards of the monastery and the wonderful cloisters with fine Azulejo tiled corridors, the church was incredibly beautiful. Breakfast was wonderful, perhaps the best we had during our Portuguese holidays...loved the smell and taste of what felt like handmade freshness. Staying here really was one of the highlights of our holiday in Portugal.

Fantastisk sted, nyrenoveret og meget fine og komfortable værelser. Restauranten var dog lukket , men den venlige receptionist sørgede for “taxi-pizza`er. Roligt område, men lidt fra byen, men absolut anbefalelsesværdigt!

Great value for money. Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Poor Wifi, non existent in rooms. Restaurant closed 3 nights per week. No suitable alternative close by. Supurb setting. The church of the monastery is as good a tribute to a God as you will see anywhere

Het hotel ligt dus in een heel groot oud klooster. Ze hebben 6 twee-persoonskamer en 3 single rooms. De kamers zijn geweldig modern gemaakt. Het indrukwekkende grote klooster is van 1623, het is de moeite waard om het immense klooster te bekijken. Eigenlijk is het een groot museum.

Bonne nuit très calme dans ce monastère en cours de restauration mais encore très interessant. La partie rénovée est confiée à la congrégation religieuse qui gère l'hotellerie. Cette partie très moderne est très confortable tranche vraiment avec le cadre historique du reste du monastère

This is a lovely hotel set in the Monastery of São Martinho de Tibães. It is incredibly tranquil and peaceful and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The room and bed was very comfortable and it was easy to have a good nights sleep. I would highly recommend this hotel. A nice touch was the bathrobes. Lovely outside and inside sitting areas, and although the restaurant wasn't open, it looked great. For those that are religious, there was a chapel too. We didn't find it the easiest place to find, but then our Sat Nav was playing up. My only complaint was that we didn't get a chance to stay longer, but fully intend to go back again. Great value for money too! Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
