Highlands Inn

Very bad experience. Very musty and dirty rooms didn’t get cleaned and we weren’t even told there was no maid service. They charged my credit card days after my visit without a call to explain my friends suspects bedbugs.— she had a rash on her face after three nights stay. And this place is not cheap, awful and ridiculous👎 👎👎

Great ambiance, delightful staff, eccentric but enjoyable rooms, including a little library. We had a balcony which was very enjoyable for sitting and reading and having a coffee. Light, but fine breakfast to start the day included. Unlike so many hotels and B&Bs, this location has a genuine sense of history and character. Ideal location.

Don’t sleep on this Highlands, NC GEM!! This Boutique Inn is centrally located, and provides the absolute best of all worlds! Antiques and thoughtfully detailed decor throughout, bring your sense back through the many generations of this historical building. The homemade, service style breakfast is a delightful treat, as well as the comfort of the luxury mattress you sleep on! The staff, as well as the cookies and coffee in the evening, provide a social opportunity that leaves you begging for more.

What a delightful place to stay. I highly recommend booking here, and you will without a doubt receive the full highlands experience! Wonderful staff members that were extremely helpful and very kind. We will most definitely be visiting again!

This was a great place to visit. Great welcoming visit from the staff members. Place is very beautiful and unique with the style of the building and rooms. Place was a new experience that I had never seen. I would recommend anyone to go here if they want a nice peaceful stay. Beautiful outside area with water fountains and within walking distance for some great food and shopping.

After a cancellation at Trailborn (was a nightmare) and a disastrous stay at the Dillard House 30 minutes away,)another nightmare) we found the Highlands Inn. Our first time visiting the Highlands was saved by our find and staying at the Highlands Inn. We were told by Trailborn there was no place to stay in Highlands but to our dismay there was room at the Highlands Inn. Trailborn never tried here!! We are so sorry we did not stay both nights here. We had an amazing 1 night stay! The people at the Inn could not have been more kind or helpful. The Inn was clean and full of beautiful Antiques! The breakfast was free and very good as the manager was walking around greeting and talking to everyone. She was super friendly and made us feel so welcome to the Highlands. They also put out warm cookies and coffee every night! The room was also very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We will definitely come back and make sure we stay at the Highland Inn. Thank you for a great stay!

A very old outdated inn. When I turned sheets down to get in bed the sheets were visibly soiled. Had to wait 30 mins for clean sheets which I had to put on. No apology. Carpet dirty. Truly not worth the rate charged. Breakfast included but only 2 choices and not good. Sad part is there is a huge sign at check in saying no refund for early checkout and I know why!

You cannot beat the location of the Inn...I never had to use my car the whole weekend. The Inn is very old and feels that way, but it is well kept. Warm hospitality was shown by the staff. The front porch is the best part! My daughter and I enjoyed a glass of wine while overlooking the activity on the street.

We stopped in Highlands for a one night stay and this was one of the only places with rooms available so we decided to spend the night. Room rate of about $300 for a king room that was so dated and smelly, dirty carpeting, window treatments from the '90's. It was late in the day so we were stuck. Large sign at check in said NO REFUNDS FOR EARLY DEPARTURE -- obviously once rooms are seen everyone wants to leave. This is a prime location in town but owners seem to think their "charm" comes from old and dated look; Breakfast is included but you'll be disappointed - we were offered scrambled egg(s)/toast/bacon; it consisted of one egg/1 pc of toast/2 undercooked bacon and small bowl of watermelon. Save your money and go anywhere else. Could be gorgeous but needs a new owner for that to happen.
