Beautiful property just a little “tired” in places. Assume coronavirus has taken its toll with no to little income. Hope they will be able to invest soon to bring it up.

Visiting La Badia is like stepping into a fairytale. My husband and I held our wedding at La Badia di Orvieto last month (finally, after having to postpone for the last two years due to covid). It was quite simply the most wonderful weekend we could have ever imagined. First of all, the place itself is pure magic. We had booked La Badia as our venue on the basis of photos we had seen (our fantastic wedding planner had previously held a wedding there and the photos were gorgeous). As soon as we arrived at the venue for our wedding weekend and walked around the grounds, we felt as if we were in a fairytale, walking back in time. Some of the reviews comment that the hotel isn’t modern enough- but that’s part of the magic of this place and I think if you visit this hotel you should manage your expectations in terms of modernity. The rooms are beautiful and tastefully appointed and clean. They are not overly modern though and nor would I want them to be. You feel the entire hotel is steeped in history and that is the beauty of it. I’ve never been to another hotel like it. The breakfast at La Badia is also very good - the food was all high quality and there’s a large variety of food (and even some gluten free options). The bar is also open all day and they make absolutely fantastic sandwiches - the ingredients are excellent, especially their bread. The most breathtaking part of this hotel is the Sala Capitolare where the arch is located- this is where we had our wedding dinner and it was spectacular. However, all of the grounds are stunning. The chapel on the grounds where we had our ceremony was so beautiful and serene. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect spot for our ceremony. Our guests also made good use of the swimming pool and tennis court over the course of the weekend. That weekend in May was about 30 degrees Celsius so our guests really enjoyed being able to get into the pool to cool off. Moving onto the fantastic people- they worked tirelessly during our wedding weekend to coordinate with our wedding planner to ensure that all went seamlessly. They truly cared about making sure we had a wonderful weekend, and we so appreciated their kindness and dedication. Rossella, Andreina, Tommaso, Manuel - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your hard work, dedication and kindness. La Badia is the most magical place, and that weekend will be in our memories forever. We were pinching ourselves the whole weekend as we couldn’t believe how lucky we were to get married in such a stunning location. I can’t say enough positive things about this hotel. I would 100% recommend a stay here - soak up all the beauty it has to offer. We can’t wait to return!

Beautiful setting for authentic stay in historic property. Wonderful service accommodating requests. We used it as perfect stopover from Rome to Tuscany, and for visiting Orvietto. Thanks for the memorable stay... we'll be back

Awesome location just 5 minutes from the old city. The property would require some refurbishment for hydraulic system (plumbing). Breakfast is done in the old refectory it is lovely but quality it is of the level for a 4 stars. Room is clean with lovely blanket

One Night stay seeing the amazing location in the historic setting. Hotel organised a taxi to a great restaurant in Orvieto, and spent some relaxing time at the beautiful pool location. The pool itself could do with an update. Breakfast was good and service attentive.

Beautiful property! Small winding roads lead to this magnificent castle set on the outskirts of Orvieto. Approximately 9 min drive to town, this establishment features a pool, complimentary breakfast and a full service bar on site. Rooms are slightly dated, but that only adds to the 12th century charm. Tall people beware of the vaulted ceilings.

Where else do you get to stay that has been around for over 1000 years. A bit dated but that is part of the charm. Very friendly staff with excellent service. Extremely quite and restful and minutes from the ancient city.

Planning a wedding at La Badia during covid turned out to be a terrible experience. We paid a deposit to hold a date in good faith, however because of travel restrictions the date was no longer possible. Other vendors and hotels we booked in Italy were extremely understanding and kind and refunded us immediately. La Badia refuses to pay back any of our deposit despite only holding a date that was not possible under unprecedented circumstances. La badia is no longer responding to our emails and we have no way to get in touch with them. They would not provide any contact information for us to speak to management. As someone who was extremely excited to have my wedding at La Badia and has had many friends stay there it is disappointing that we cannot recommend anyone to visit in the future.
