Onomo Hotel Dakar

I made the mistake of allowing my tour operator to book two nights at Onomo Hotel in Dakar. You’ll be sorry if you stay here. If you want a room… -that has no tea, sugar, cup, glass, a dirty electric kettle that is black at the base and pours black specks, book your stay here. -where you make 6 trips to the Front Desk to try to fix a broken a/c, book your stay here. -that has a broken a/c and 6 agents tell you it’s not broken, book your stay here. If you want to see roaches running around on the floor in the walkway, book your stay here. If you want a hotel agent to tell you that to warm up your room, open the window—at night when it is colder outside than your room, book your stay here. Only one of the 6 hotel agents finally explained that there are three temperature options in the room—Fan, Heat, Cold. The numbers on the thermostat are meaningless. All other 5 hotel agents fiddled with numbers on the thermostat as if it was a real thermostat. In my room, the thermostat was stuck at Cold. None of the 5 agents had any idea how to troubleshoot a broken thermostat. I advised the front desk agent Yanique at 5.30pm, 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9pm that I needed tea, sugar, a cup. He arrived at 9.53pm, woke me up to deliver them. He offered no apology. The hotel agent offered me a new room. After not sleeping for two nights because the room was so cold, I accepted the offer and shuddered at the thought of packing up my stuff at 4am on the second night. He checked the computer, wrote down several numbers. He then knocked on two room doors and wake up TWO guests at 4.45am! Stay out of here if you want a good nights’ sleep!

Not a hotel but a piggery. Dirty, noisy, and unprofessional stuff. This business must be closed.

This is a boutique hotel that has fallen on hard times. The good news: my room was clean and very quiet, and the price is very good. The bad news: the common areas of the hotel are shabby. Signs announce that a renovation is in progress, but meanwhile no effort is made to contain the dust or to fix the crumbling infrastructure.

Booked 2x rooms for a business trip. On arrival (after 26 hours traveling) they told us rooms not accessible due to technical problems? After debating in the reception I talked to the Hotel Manager on the phone complaining about their poor service level as we booked 3 weeks in advance and on arrival they tell us no rooms available. We were offered rooms in an other hotel, however, immediate payment, we didn't even know the state of the other hotel but we had to pay. The shuttle brought us there. Forget the ONOMO, there are many other, much better hotels like The Palms or the YAAS, superior service levels compared to the ONOMO Hotel. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE.

I’ve stayed here several times in the past, before DSS became the official airport. I was disappointed this time around. The hotel was undergoing renovation so it was extremely noisy. The restaurant offers very limited food options and most of it isn’t good. Unfortunately its in such an awkward location there aren’t many restaurants nearby. The breakfast is ok. The staff were polite. Housekeeping was extremely slow, came to clean around 2pm which given the renovation- where was I supposed to go while they cleaned? The telephones in the bedrooms don’t work. If I can avoid it I probably won’t come back.

Biggest problem was flies in the hotel rooms and mosquitos in the lobby/ no insect killers noted Food, staff, accommodation, firm beds, security were all very good!

The stay has been very good, enjoyable. As still here, I extended my stay. The only problem is that after extending my stay they increased the room rate. Otherwise overall stay as been ok
