Hotel del Almirante

We really enjoyed our stay in this quiet and historically interesting hotel. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Lovely pool with sun beds and terrace. Pretty, shaded garden to have a drink. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and happily arranged car hire for us too. One criticism is that there is no bar service between 3 and 5pm; during the hottest part of the day it is not possible to buy any drinks- even water. Location is between Mahon and Es Castell; both can be walked to in less than half an hour, but therefore only suited to fit people unless you have a car. No closer restaurants or bars, though the hotel itself does a good choice of food, during specific hours. We particularly loved Calesfonts in Es Castell for our evenings. Would not think the best for families with children, or anyone with walking difficulty, but recommend for a peaceful, relaxing place to stay.

Lovely old historic house with additional rooms built in the gardens with nice pool. However we were allocated a room in the house (no 9) which was tiny and poorly equipped (small double bed, no aircon/fan, no bedside lights, no fridge, miniscule bathroom with shower that had a wraparound curtain in a tray.

Good base for walking to Mahon or Es Castell. Very nice pool and good access to poolside seating. Excellent sun terrace. Breakfast ok, room needed updating. Very modern rooms by the pool, although we were not in the main hotel, whose rooms are looking rather dark and tired. Good bar with friendly service and very good value.

The staff were fantastic, very polite and very helpful. Food options were good and varied and the bar well stocked. Whilst I understand they are trying to keep the hotel to the roots of the building, some minor upgrades to things such as the showers, and pillows are well over due, inexpensive and would have made my stay much more enjoyable.

What a lovely spot, hotel is old fashioned in a good way, great value. Don't be expecting luxury but do expect a very warm welcome.

The location of the hotel is very convenient especially if you have a car. Good (free) parking is available. The breakfast was simple but nice and the room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The hotel itself is a very curious place and it's fun to walk around and discover more about the history. We enjoyed our stay!

Home from home, relax from the minute you arrive

I liked this hotel, simple but nice, a little walk from the harbour/centre, but I enjoy a good walk anyway. The pool and roof decking above it were very nice. The breakfast was decent. Only complaint would be that my ensuite was a little dusty and there were a few ants in it! But that is merely an observation as I don't really care about that sort of thing. The staff were nice and that's the most important thing.
