The Elks Head – Whitfield

The Elk's Head is set in a really nice rural location next to the bridge. I bet it is great to sit outside and enjoy a drink in nice weather, pity that we had rain!! Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful, could not be bettered. We enjoyed the Northumberland breakfast and the great choice for evening meals, which were not expensive. Yes the room and shower are a bit small, but were clean and tidy and certainly more than warm enough. We certainly liked our stay.

THe staff were freindly and corteous. The food was great, the setting peaceful, its an odd expression you could here the silence. The roomwas fine. To sum up, we couldn't fault the place

Excellent welcome in a lovely peaceful location with riverside garden. All the staff were very considerate and customer focused in a very friendly way. This old Inn needs a little TLC but overall we had a very pleasant one night stay with dinner and breakfast..

Rooms could do with an update. However clean. Staff were very friendly and food was good quality. Great base for history trip around Hadrian's wall and roman ruins.

The hotel was very comfortable and staff were very welcoming including our Jack Russell who was also made welcome. The room was lovely and the shower very good. We ate in the bar and the food was really good! Great location for the races and other attractions. We will return. Thank you for making us feel welcome during our stay.

Friendly and welcoming staff, though a bit busy on our arrival, so took a little while to get checked in. Room was comfortable, but window above door made it a bit light at night. Would stay again, but not that particular room as would prefer an en suite bathroom facility, simply because of nocturnal bathroom visits!!

Lovely location, Bar busy so nice atmosphere, meal and breakfast good. Need to change TV in room 1 though. Very pleased with stay and beds comfy.

We didn't stay as it smelt really badly of dog and damp. Curtains covered in dog hair. Matteress I would say was 30 years old. Black mould in bathroom and kettle was black inside.
