The situation of the property and the views

Just one or two little niggles, no slippers in the bedroom, fires not lit when it rained and was cold.

The hotel is STUNNING. The views and the quality of the hotel is spectacular - HOWEVER people booking should be aware of how bad the food situation is and how bad the access is which make it hard to go out.. .

We are so disappointed with the food situation at the hotel. The hotel has a separately owned restaurant and no other food option for hotel guests. It is ALL fine dining. - No light lunch menu - just the same a l carte menu that the restaurant uses lunch AND dinner !!!  - menu is extremely overpriced and limited.  - no snack menu - no menu for round the pool  - no service around the pool  - no vegetarian option  - no selection for pregnant women. Chef offered VERY limited selection. Charged us €21 for a plate of tomatoes at evening meal. Shocking!! - the breakfast was shocking..NO menu. We asked for Eggs Benedict and was looked at like an alien. Limited basic choice that is extremely overpriced about €38 for 2 people and it was tomatoes, one cheese, very dry pastries. The hotel itself is gorgeous but the restaurant COMPLETELY let's it down.  I can see there is so much similar feedback on booking.com but the hotel has done NOTHING about it.  We would not recommend this hotel based on the food options which actually completely ruined the stay to be honest. We were either hungry or paying for very expensive fine dining for lunch and dinner averaging €200 a day. Noone likes to be ripped off

Beautiful location with gorgeous views and terraces. We ate at the restaurant one night and the setting and food was fabulous.

The standard room we had was very tired and very small with one small window with no view. The room was a surprise to us in a hotel that is promoted as a luxury retreat and for the price we paid it was incredibly disappointing. I think we were maybe unlucky as I understood after talking to a staff member that Room 1 which we stayed in was the worst room in the hotel…we had booked the room months previously, so not last minute. The retreat has subcontracted the catering to an outside restaurant, so it is self service round the pool, just for cold drinks left in a cool box behind a bar away from the pool. This also means if you want a coffee or drink, or snack outside of meal times you need to go out as there is no onsite cafe. The road to the property is very rough with tight corners so best to take a 4 wheel drive!

Stunning views with beautiful decor throughout, tranquil vibe and plenty of secluded spaces throughout the property so all guests had space to enjoy it. The property had loads of character and charm. The food at the on site restaurant and drinks were excellent. We were pleasantly surprise by the walking paths through olive groves and vines directly accessible from the property and enjoyed it as a good cycling base.

As mentioned it is a bit tricky to drive up the driveway so ensure you have a rental car with a good engine and be extra careful driving at night. However, the views are worth the drive and I'm glad the owners have preserved the ancient olive grove terraces instead of building a new road

Stunning views, beautiful hotel

What a beautiful and wonderful place to stay. All staff (hotel and restaurant) were extraordinary. The inn was very quiet and very peaceful. We will stay here again!

Would definitely not call this a luxury resort and would rate the stay a zero if we could but feel it is imperative others are made aware of the unhygienic conditions of our stay. To clarify, on the first night of our stay at around 12am we both broke out in hives and an itchy rash. When inspecting the bed we found what can only be described as bed bugs , to which when we ran our hands over them, they squashed into little blood spots on the bed covers. (I have pictures which were shown to the hotel and booking.com). We informed the lady working at the reception desk who came and saw the situation and switched our room. She did state that dogs are able to stay in the rooms and have done recently so said it could be a flea?- which was just unacceptable for a luxury retreat. We had to repack all of our belongings at 12am and move them into the other room which was a massive inconvenience. Furthermore, the rashes persisted into the night so we were deeply uncomfortable and as a consequence of the events found it really difficult to sleep even in the new room due to being itchy and greatly anxious that something was in the bed. The following morning, we chose not to discuss the events in light of trying our best to somewhat enjoy the rest of our stay and assumed this would be discussed on checkout. However to my surprise when checking out this was not mentioned at all, when I bought this up there was surprise and the staff said that we had been ‘upgraded rooms’. I informed her firstly we were never made aware of the room upgrade as at the midnight we were switched we were just told our room could be changed and secondly this is not an acceptable resolution. Simply, our entire first night of the stay was ruined by what can only be described as an unhygienic oversight from the hotel. When we tried to contact the hotel and booking.com making them aware of this- booking.

The location, the gorgeous pool, the overall feel

The restaurant had been sublet. It was same gastronomic menu all the time. Sometimes you just want something simpler. The restaurant was closed on Monday but no warning given. It is a long way to everywhere and there was no service by the pool

We had breakfast every morning and it got worse each day. There was a buffet breakfast that was very very limited and they ran out of pastries half way through the breakfast service. It behooves me how it is so difficult to make fried eggs without burning them to a sear. The orange juice awful quality. It had a cheap supermarket quality taste. Also, every time we asked for a specific amount of eggs we got a different amount. When asking for 3, we always got 2. We ordered eggs and got bacon with it as well, even though we did not ask for it. €18 per person for that breakfast was extremely overpriced given how low the quality was.
