The cottage is beautiful. Chris and Liz are wonderful hosts, they left a few little extras in our room, hot chocolate, biscuits and some lovely chocolates. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and went down a treat. We had a great view of Lake Windermere. Chris was very knowledgeable about the area and had a lovely conversation with my partner about fishing

I can honestly say there is nothing I didn’t like about Slack Cottage.

"Beautiful 14th century cottage with magnificent views to lake and mountains."

Beautiful 14th century cottage with green fields around. What even more surprising is that there is a private path leading down to the lake side of Windermere! From there you can walk either side to Lakeside or Ambleside. Hosts Liz and Chris are very kind and helpful and did everything they possibly could to make our stay very enjoyable. Thanks Liz and Chris.

"Peaceful cottage in picturesque surroundings"

Fantastic location, really peaceful and relaxing. Wonderful view of the lake. Can also walk down to the boathouse for some nice photos or a walk along the Lake.

"Run away!"

Quiet & clean

We were met by a drill Sargent rather than friendly hostess. Very inflexible and stern and blatantly rude at times. We felt like we were kids in a boarding school in fear of being sent to the principals office for the least transgression. Not at all welcoming. Should be renamed “Strict Cottage”
