Clean and kind staff

No hot water, wifi doesn t work, breakfast is awful, old rooms with meccanical noise during the night.

THE SERVICE IS GREAT AND VERY CORRECT.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. U are right across the street from a large grocery store with a cafe and a small food court which is extremely convenient. The room is decent size and the TV has a lot of English speaking channels which my daughter appreciated.

I think there was bugs in our room. My wife and daughter both got bit multiple times and it always seem to show up after waking up the next morning. Some additional fumigation of the room might be necessary.

I stayed at this property for 3 nights in this 2nd largest city in Mexico, Queretaro. There is another Hilton property in the city, the Hilton Garden Inn, but I selected this mainly due to the location which seemed better to my needs compared to the other. Location The hotel is not located in the old historical center of Queretaro, but it is a good location if you have a car - as parking is complimentary. Furthermore, the close access to the highway makes it convenient to get on the road. There are no touristic attractions within walking distance of the hotel - close by was a large supermarket chain and within 5-10 mins walking, some shops, restaurants, and cafes. From security point of view, I felt safe even though walking after sunset hours. The traffic and activities around the area quite down after peak hours and certainly on Sunday's. Check In After starting off early from Mexico City, I arrived at the hotel just after midday. I was lucky and managed to get checked in. Initially there was a discussion about having a 2nd guest - but that was resolved quickly as this did not make a different in price. As usual, like in the US - elite status with HHonors does not make any difference in treatment. I was greeted by at least what I felt to be one of the few staff working at the property to be more of the friendlier once working at the front desk. (not sure why, but during my whole stay, the front desk was either unmanned, or when there was someone - he/she was either on the phone or typing away on the computer). Based on my experience at other Hilton properties in Mexico - staff were like most in general, not always the most warm or happy type - as in never greeting nor acknowledging or even saying a friendly hello whenever guests enters or leaves the property. All in all, the check-in process was efficient and I was off to my room within 10 mins of arriving (because when I arrived, the front desk staff was on the phone). I was given the afamous DT chocolate cookie ( this was at least one of the better one that I've received) Room My room was as usual (and expected) not upgraded - as this seems to be the norm in the US and Mexico. The room size was ok - but it was clear that the property was built and open in the early 2000's. The room was on the dark side - with very little natural light. It was your typical old style Doubletree furnishing. Lighting in the room (like my previous experience of Mexican Hilton properties) on the dark side - with not well placed lighting. (in fact one of the table light was not working and despite me unscrewing the bulb to indicate to housekeeping to get it changed - never happened for the duration of my stay). Other than that, the room was ok - with a writing desk and a small one person sofa at the corner next to the window. Although on the dated side, at least everything worked as expected. There was the usual (american) type coffee filter machine. There was no fridge but they did have a safety deposit box. Plugs were US style. Internet speed was ok - stable and worked for usual online activities. The TV seems to be the only item in current times - with a mix of local and a few international options. However, the quality of the signal was quite bad. Sleep quality was luckily good - with some internal disturbance due to the noise from the hallway (again same issues in majority of properties in the US). External noise was surprisingly much less compared to the ones from the hallways. The bathroom size was ok - with the a walk-in shower. The fittings in the toilet were showing that the property was dated - with broken tiles. I was surprised that the property did not update yet to those wall mounted toiletries. The toiletries were in individual bottles and from an unknown local brand. The shower head was not the best - so this lead to the water spray settings not being the best - although water pressure and temperature control was ok. Breakfast Breakfast was served in their main restaurant - starting from 0700 during the weekend and 0630 during the week. It did last until 12 pm if I am not mistaken during the weekends. Breakfast spread in general was good - with a mix of local and usual hot breakfast items. They did do a nice rotation of items - as during the 3 days, I never encountered the same items. They did have cook to order eggs and quesadillas. The quality of the food was good (one of the better items compared to US properties). Breakfast staff in general were friendly and helpful. Luckily here they were not so money minded yet to get guests to always sign checks and leave tips (like some properties in Mexico city). The only maybe improvement point are the hot drinks options - no idea why they had so little tea options (and when it ran out - only Camomille tea was available. Coffee was just the usual American filter coffee. Not sure if I was too early for breakfast, but during the weekends, the breakfast room was always quite quiet - even on days when it was clear the hotel was quite full. However during the week, even during the early hours, the breakfast room was busy. (surprisingly there are quite a lot of industry and factories including Toyota around the area - which might explain this). Pool The hotel did have a small indoor pool - which was more or less of what you will find like at US properties. The pool area in my opinion was very somber and really not inviting. I did use it one day - water temperature was ok. They did have towels provided in the pool area. Overall All in all, it was an OK property and especially for the price paid, totally an acceptable property. However one should not set the bar too high - as like in most of these chain hotels in Mexico - they sadly adopted the US way of operating. If I am in the area - and with the right price, I would not hesistate to return to this property. Just hoping that the property already have plans to refurbish as it is getting clearly dated.
