"Authentic Deadwood at the Martin and Mason"

8.0

We spent two nights here in one of the larger suites. The living room was great. However the sleep sofa was broken and I had to sleep on it like a sofa. The room was clean and furnished with antiques. Coffee and tea were available down the hall in the morning. An elevator is available. Parking is a little tight. It has a great location and could walk everywhere.

"Lovely Stay"

10.0

Stayed for one night with my husband. Room was pretty, clean, comfy. It's a historic building in Deadwood, the floors squeaked, windows are thin so you can hear the street, doors are noisy, but it was an absolute joy to stay in, we'll definitely be coming back! Bed was comfy, lovely fabrics, polite staff, complimentary beverages, free parking, super close to Main St destinations 👍

Did not have breakfast, location was excellent!

Bathtub had no curtain to shower, difficult to bathe and not get water everywhere, Also a live bug, probably from window crawled on me as I was napping. Bed was not comfortable. Coffee was cold but staff qiuickly corrected issue.

"Authentic and Charming "

10.0

Authentic restoration of a Victorian Era hotel. It has the charm of being an old hotel with the amenities of modern day. It's not a 5-star hotel. If it was,.. (and had big new large screen TVs, etc), it would lose authenticity. The rooms are darkly lit but again,..as the result of old-style lighting fixtures. Location is perfect. A quick one minute walk to the main street yet far enough away to not hear everything. It is located next to the Adam's museum and literally across the street from the Wild Bill Hickock bust statue, which is located on the location of Hickock and Charlie Utter's original camp site. Only improvement (for us) would be if the casino slot machines were removed from the hotel lobby area. Upon reading some of the history of Deadwood, it appears as though legalizing casinos in the area in the 1980s saved the town and hence allows for the preservation of its history. Personally,.I feel the casino slots take away from the charm of the town. But it is what it is. We stayed in room #2 (Lucy Ann). Clean bathroom and comfortable beds and bedding. If you want to feel like you're staying in a hotel in the late 1890s,... highly recommend. We met the owners, Blake and Melanie. Both were super friendly, knowledgeable, kind and considerate. If we return to Deadwood,.. will definitely stay here again.
