Violeta Hvar

I stayed 1 night in this family run hotel. The hosts are very friendly and helpful with everything. The room was good sized but could use a bit of a furniture upgrade. The view from the balcony rooms are worth the upgrade. The balcony however doesn't offer much privacy from the other rooms so it can be a bit awkward as everyone wants to share the view. The hotel is up a hill so be warned elderly or handicapped folks.

violeta hvar is modest yet with adequately furnished and clean rooms. this guesthouse is set on a hill in a residential area and some rooms have a private balcony that offers spectacular views of the sea. for us it was a relatively short walk into town as we enjoy walking and soaking in the views (there is a short cut about 10-15 mins hillside, that gives you scenic views of the town, harbor, sea). air-conditioning is excellent (this is important esp during summer in croatia). a hearty welcome is extended by the couple who owns this guesthouse - they help you book tours, pick-up to/from the guesthouse and port/bus station, boat rentals, ferry/catamaran schedule, arrange for a private dinner on the balcony which is reasonably priced with all the dishes/drinks they serve, and just about any question you have, they try to help make your stay as pleasant as possible. although they live in the same building, they give you your privacy but they're readily available when you need assistance or recommendations. Urska and Tunci, the owners, is a large part of what makes Violeta Hvar special. you can also walk to hula-hula beach and faro bar which give you stunning views of the sunset. the guesthouse is really a tranquil oasis after a full day of activities. my husband and I really enjoyed our stay there. we highly recommend Violeta Hvar .

Great and friendly couple. Happy to help with anything you are wanting to do on the island. A central position close to the beach and town. Highly recommended for your stay on Hvar.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. Walk up the hill can be tough in the heat, but there are places to stop and enjoy the view

The location is great, walking distance to town but just far enough so you don't get all the noise at night. Wonderful hosts that were very helpful and accomodating. Our room had a huge terrace with a view overlooking the city and the water. The room also came with a full kitchen and a market is nearby so its easy to get breakfast and snack food. They make pizza's every day from 4pm, they are really good!

We spent a great two days at Violeta Hvar. It was a short (10 minute) walk to town - beware the hill! - and great to be close but out of the Hvar noise and fray. The view was spectacular - definitely the highlight - and the owners were terrific. They helped us get oriented and they organized an excellent boat rental for us that we couldn't have done otherwise. I would definitely recommend this spot to others.

Clean, easy, good location but they provided me with one small sheet that didn't even fit the bed and no blanket.

Staff was professional. Room was basic but had side view of water from the balcony. It was a 15 min. walk down to the water and you need to cab home if you go into town at night because it is hard to find your way back on the trail.

The host worked hard to help us, including driving our luggage to the bus station when we checked out. Tip: Be sure to print out a map for directions to get there to bring with you, and be prepared for several flights of stairs to get on of the old town. Because the old town "streets" cannot be used by cars, the taxi ride cost a lot from the dock because it had to go all the way around the old town, not thru it. Otherwide, everything was good.

Hotel was well maintained, clean and conveniently located. The owners were very friendly and did a great job of answering questions.
