The Montague Hotel

Even with GPS this hotel was hard to find. Once we found it it was fine, with ample free parking behind the building. The bar in the lobby was a nice touch, and check-in was smooth. The "family room" wasn't quite as big or as well laid out as in the photos, but it seems that each one is a bit different, so it was fine. Then things started going wrong. Our side of the hallway had no hot water (not sure how that works), but a family room across the hallway did. Rather than just moving us, we had to share the key with the other rooms so that we could all take turns taking a hot shower. There were no apologies for this at all, but hey, I guess the person at the front desk isn't responsible for the boiler, and at least there was a solution, even if a bit awkward. Then on check-out they wanted to charge me £80 for the breakfasts, despite the fact that I was standing there with a confirmation in hand saying I had booked and prepaid the rate including breakfasts. However, my confirmation was in US dollars instead of pounds and her system said no breakfast, so she wasn't going to honor it. (???) She tried to say she had told me that there would be a charge for breakfast when we checked in, but I was standing there with 5 witnesses who confirmed that she had told us where breakfast was and when, not that we would have to pay extra. In the end, she "waived" breakfast given the lack of hot water, but continued to refuse to recognize the confirmation from the US Expedia site.

The hotel is feeling it's age a bit with water problems (tepid water from cold tap and it took ages for hot water to come through hot taps- poor thermostat on shower meant too hot or cold as well) . Room 19 was over the front door so a fair bit of late night noise and constant knocking noise as the door opened and closed in the wind all night long!

A two night stay while attending a conference at the BIC (10 minute walk) at a very average hotel. The rooms need a bit of an update, but having said that, they are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is decent and the service very functional, so no complaints. Would stay again if needed to

The room was freezing on arrival with cold air coming through the window. Basic room. The floor boards creaking above our heads went on all night till about 0500! Not a pleasant experience of a hotel stay and would not stay again.

Lovely room. Nice view. Very clean. Really nice breakfast. Friendly staff. The only negative thing I could say is the old fashioned curtains in the rooms !

This hotel was ideally located near the The Triangle area in Bournemouth for the night life and eating out and also located close to West beach. Nothing was a chore for the staff as I was allowed to have a very early breakfast as I was running a Marathon nearby on that morning. They went the extra mile to help me and to enjoy my stay.

Stayed in Bournemouth for the weekend Airshow. Hotels major advantage is location, ideally located near beach and town centre activities. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is aged, and amenities need major upgrading. Beds are uncomfortable, worn out, need to be replaced. We had 3 in a room, third bed was a pull out single couch, springs sticking through mattress. Floors squeak everywhere you step, whole floor could here you walking around. No shower, just a bath with hand held shower attachment. Toilst seat loose, almost fell off. These are fundamental fixes, that would make this hotel go from ok, to great.

Only stayed one night and was very pleased with our room very clean and very comfortable bed and good breakfast. My sister stayed in Room 29 was very disappointed it had no proper shower and the floorboards squeaked which had been reported previously but hadnd been addressed

Just needed a room and bfast. Staff v friendly. Nice walks along beach and views
