What a great place! The people are so kind and loving and welcoming; the space is clean and elegant but not over the top; the food at the restaurant (and many nearby restaurants) is REALLY good; and it is a short walk to the beach. We’ll be back!

We had the most wonderful experience at Café Playa Negra. From the very start, we felt like welcomed guests rather than just tourists. We were greeted with ice-cold lime drinks that hit the spot on a hot day and made my daughter feel like royalty. Our room was beautifully designed, super clean, and incredibly comfortable. The food was consistently excellent, and the pool was a peaceful, perfect retreat. Special thanks to Nixon, who made sure everything ran smoothly and took such good care of us throughout our stay. Staying here is more than just a relaxing getaway—it gives back to the community. Unlike Airbnb rentals that are often owned by foreign investors, Café Playa Negra is a true local gem. Your stay directly supports the people who live and work in Playa Negra. We’re already dreaming of our return.

This was easily one of the best stays we’ve ever had. Café Playa Negra is everything a boutique hotel should be—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully run. We were greeted like family and offered lime slush drinks that were pure bliss. Our room was spotless and beautiful, the meals were delicious, and the pool was a perfect escape. Nixon was amazing—so kind and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly. This place has heart. And by staying here, you’re supporting the real people of Playa Negra—not just a vacation rental owned by investors. We felt good knowing our visit made a positive impact. We’ll definitely be back.

There are definitely some positive things to say about the place. The staff, for example, were very kind, the restaurant was absolutely fantastic, there was a yoga studio right next to the hotel, and there was live music one of the evenings.

The rooms were extremely small—there was so little space that it was difficult to move around the suitcases. The woman who cleaned the rooms during our stay was very skilled at her job, but the dust from the road (which runs right outside the hotel) made the sofas and other guest areas quite dusty. The garden isn’t a particularly inviting place to spend time in. Otherwise, we felt reasonably okay at the hotel, but it was far too expensive considering the lack of quality.
