"Great, comfortable hotel with fab food and lovely staff"

10.0

We booked to stay at Playa Negra Hotel for one night on our way down to Nosara, just as somewhere to stop off to enjoy the lovely Playa Negra Beach. As soon as we checked in we wished that we had another few nights to stay! The service was excellent, really friendly and welcoming. The room was pristine and really modern with the most comfortable bed I slept in during 3 weeks in Costa Rica. The view out of the window onto the beautiful trees and birdlife was awesome too. We ate dinner at the hotel which was excellent, there was live music which was also great and a little cocktail bar in the rear garden which was so nice too. Playa Negra is a bit off the beaten track with a very bumpy journey to get there, but this brilliant little hotel is well worth a visit with the lovely beach a 10 min walk or opposite the hotel. I felt that the price was excellent, such great value for money as most of the places we stayed were 50-100% more expensive, strangely I was nearly put off by the name as being English associated ‘Cafe’ with a local cheap eatery but there is nothing Cafe like about this lovely little hotel, also worth a visit for dinner or cocktails if you are staying in the area Thank you! The location, food was ok

Music of the restaurant all the time extremely loud, all one cleaner for the whole hotel and she is overwhelmed and do rooms very late in the day (3pm), very expensive hotel for what it provides

"The Perfect Costa Rican Experience"

10.0

I travel frequently for business and I can honestly say this might be the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Their customer service and attention to detail is far superior than anything I have had before. They are more than happy to accommodate anything and will always help out! The food at the restaurant (as well as the staff) was truly delicious!! I cannot recommend this place enough.

This place is much better than the photos! The people are amazing. So cute! Extremely clean. Only 8 rooms in the whole hotel so it does book up in advance. There is a lovely shaded courtyard with a bar and lights and live music. Bright fresh airy rooms with high ceilings. I love this place! I got to meet the owner, it was his birthday and he was celebrating with friends and still went out of his way to welcome me. Roxy is the beautiful manager who is extremely thoughtful and welcoming as well. Great place!!

"What a wonderful find!"

10.0

My friend Jackie found yet another wonderful hotel and restaurant for our two night get away at the beach. Think birthday celebration. The underdeveloped area reminds us of why we came to Costa Rica twenty years ago. Cafe Playa N’égratigna Hotel - the rooms are comfortable, air conditioned with well designed baths and comfortable beds. There is a lovely upstairs porch to lounge in and watch the locals and surfers walk by. The staff all greet us by name. We were fortunate to here for the party to celebrate the owner Stéphano’s birthday with lively not too loud music. The restaurant is worthy of a long drive to get here. The chef is from Peru and the seafood reflects his heritage. The many dishes we tried were all of the highest level presentation and taste. BRAVO. Jackie asked ahead if they could make the mayacouya (passion fruit) cheesecake for her husband and it turned out to be probably my new favorite dessert, replacing key lime pie that I often make for parties. It was was beautiful and the best I have ever had. We definitely will come back here.

"Wonderful, Relaxing Stay!"

We had the best time here! Delicious food, perfectly crafted cocktails, yoga next door, and the friendliest staff! Rocsi was a dream come true - going out of her way to ensure we had a memorable stay. She even had the room decked out for my birthday!
