Hotel Atwater

The staff was very accommodating, especially Jenny at the front desk! The Atwater King room wqs well apportioned and clean.. we had a very enjoyable time there. We loved how many people were using the lobby to play games with their families and friends.

The room temperature was a little warm

There was so much to love about Hotel Atwater. Front desk staff were very helpful , friendly, and professional. Location was perfect, decor was beautiful. The rooms were a bit on the small side, expected in an older building, but were beautifully designed. Hot showers with good water pressure are always a plus after a long day of traveling, and the hotel did not disappoint there either. Bed and pillows were equally comfortable. If I could give a 4.5 rating I would, but considering the rate was nearly $400 a night, in the off season, for a standard room, there were some bumps. I booked a Classic King room, and I think our first room assignment may have actually been an upgrade to an Avalon King (Room 328). It was lovely, except we could only pick up a wifi signal if we were outside of our room and at least 10 feet down the hall. We made do for the first night, and mentioned it at the desk the next morning. They said they would put in a ticket with IT, but by the afternoon we were still without wifi, so I asked about a room change. Again, the desk staff were super nice and accommodating, but noted the new room would "not have a view". Considering my current view was a light pole and a building across the street, having wifi for the next 2 days was a bigger priority. We switched to room 219, which was notably smaller, had a view of an interior wall, but it strong wifi. Then I noticed the headboard had multiple large dings and pockmarks chunked out of it. Again I thought, for this price I would expect more. So I took pictures of the beat up headboard and went back to the desk. Fortunately we were able to move to the room next door (221), still smaller, still an interior wall view, but comfortable, without beat up furniture, and with working wifi. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Atwater based on the service at the desk, the beautiful design, and comfort. The room situation was just enough of a disappointment and inconvenience for us that I can't give it a 5 star rating for this stay.

We splurged on an upgrade to the P Knight Suite and I'm so glad we did. It made our visit special. The room was amazing. Comfortable bed, beautiful and huge bathroom. Great view of the ocean and hillside. We were celebrating a birthday and had a great time. Oliver at the front desk was so kind and the staff overall couldn't have been any nicer. We'll be back sand I hope we get another chance to stay in the same room.

The front desk staff was very friendly

The room was much smaller than we expected and there was not a view . Just a roof top and looking into windows where it looked like laundry was being done all night (very bright light and no window coverings to hide the machines)

The location, beauty and history of the hotel is a big A+. In addition, I liked how there was an amazing gym to use, lots of fun board games in the lobby vault, and guests get access to the beach club. However for 450.00 a night, my room was a postage stamp- the pillows were lumpy, the ceiling walls were very thin (I can hear the alarm of the guests above me, water flushing, and some other sounds!) the queen bed was slanted...too many people have slept on the right side of the bed and I felt like I was going to slide off. Also my window view was the unsightly roof top. All in all, the amenities were the highlight and hotel is centrally located.

Great location, good view, great customer service. Was a great experience being close to the ocean, and the weather was great

Hotel Atwater has been newly renovated, and everything looks great. The location is central and convenient to restaurants, shopping, hiking, the Casino, and Descanso Beach. The staff are friendly and professional, and the Bistro downstairs provides good coffee and quick breakfast options.

The rooms are small and don't have much closet space. There's a refrigerator but no coffee machine. A small Keurig coffee maker would have been nice.
