The Algonquin Hotel

Amazing stuff, clean rooms. We felt very welcomed.

We had a great stay, evening staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and engage our kid-he really felt special! Only hotel we found with movies and the character of the building was really charming!

Unfortunately the hotel is not well kept. The corridors smell badly of urine, carpets are old (which does not justify lack of cleanliness) and there is a bar on the first floor with loud music it closes at 11pm. I asked for a room switch, offering to pay for extra room if they did not have a double room. The lady tried hard to be nice and gave me an explanation about testing the sound system and turned the music down, but not to an extent that allowed rest. Music went on until 11:30pm. Toilet paper was not available in the room and we had to ask for towels for the 3rd guest, even though it was a doble room booked for 3. Not a big deal, though shows the level of service available. It is a pity since the building is a historical spot and really nice architecture. Very well located with lots of parking. Wi-Fi is ok.

The hotel is in a neat old building with lots of character. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. He watched tv a little loud throughout the night and our room was close to the front so we could hear it. Just needs a little improvement on the front of house appearance and overnight ongoings and the hotel is on its way to being fantastic. Thank you!

Location of hotel was close to three tourist sights and the building has great potential.

I've lived in the Soo for 2 years before staying here for a visit. Was a nice hotel, very clean and comfortable. Not creepy looking like some people would say. Would stay again

If you want cheap but also don't mind old smell, no shower head, this is good deal. Although, be careful of scam for key deposit. They took deposit and wrote it down but next morning, it changed to lower amount lol. Get a receipt. It was just funny.

We told the clerk that we were already billed for this since we made the reservation a year in advance from expedia and i have all the receipt if needed as a proof.However we were made to pay again plus $20.00 deposit which was given back to us on check out.Totally a very disappointing experience.I made a complain to expedia about this experience.
