"Super evening with food and drink."

10.0

Lovely food, we were really well looked after exceptionally well by Toni who kept checking in and making sure we had everything we need. Would recommend popping in for either a drink or a meal. Menu had a great choice including the specials board. Will be back.

"Good"

6.0

The staff were lovely, we really could not fault them. The place itself was quaint. However, the food service was quite slow, and while some of the food was great, there were a couple of disappointments - one of the desserts was like rubber, sadly. While the place itself is nice and the staff really try hard, here are a few suggestions: * Warn tall people about very low ceilings for some rooms when booking so they can consider options... * If a very large party is dining as a one off, potentially reduce service or close the restaurant to other diners as the wait can be a little silly. * Potentially chat with the cleaning staff as the rooms were pretty grubby in places - our socks were a bit gross from walking around the room. * It sounds entitled, but maybe consider nicer bread at breakfast or at least for the cooked/hot menu options. Sliced (pre packed?) bread is not very 2024, maybe consider at least having sourdough for the main dishes :/ * Maybe switching from concentrated to fresh orange juice might be a low cost way of also improving the experience. * Maybe it's not solvable as it's an old setup, but the plumbing is a bit off - the shower kept starting and stopping and going hot/cold. I think we might have paid over the odds for our room, and maybe at the normal price point this is alright, but for >£200 a night it wasn't quite up to the standard of other hotels we've stayed in at that price. It was fine, but we won't be going out of our way to return. Sorry!

"Delightful."

10.0

How lucky is the charming village of Aldermaston to have this treasure of a pub in its midst? Nothing was too much trouble for the three delightful members of staff we interacted with and our light lunch was delicious including the best chips I've had in quite a while. I'm only sorry it's too far from home to become a regular venue for us!

"A thoroughly pleasant experience"

10.0

Booked to stay for 2 nights as my oldest son was hosting a party here, pre- wedding for all family to meet each other. What an absolute cracker of a pub/hotel. As a hotel, I couldn’t fault it. We like relaxed and informal but without compromising on quality or service. Every single member of the team couldn’t do enough for us. Engaging and happy. Nothing was too much trouble. The food, from breakfast, to the buffet for the party was excellent. Even the ‘kitchens shut, I’m sure we can rustle something up’ late arrival food was a delight. Parents note - our 5 year old, who has the ASD superpower was treated so well. Genuinely family friendly. It would be unfair to pick any single member of the team, they were all excellent. I will definitely be using this hotel again when visiting family (I’m bringing the dog next time as well).

"Everything you want in a pub!"

10.0

Finally this place has hit the spot! Been looking for a decent pub, that consistently serves great food and offers a great level of service and warm welcome! Frankie and Luke have brought this place back to life. Their passion and enthusiasm for good food and hospitality is clear. They have a great team around them who also deliver their vision and maintain that consistency. Great wine list and varied menu offers enough choice to keep it interesting. The 7 hour braised lamb shoulder is memorable!!

"Lovely greeting, service and setting"

10.0

We called into The Hinds Head today on our way home. We had our dog with us and when they say “dog friendly” they really mean it. We were all beautifully greeted by Aimee and the dog given treats and a bowl of water. We sat in a stunning rustic bar area in comfortable leather chairs where we ordered coffee and a pudding each. We were served by Aimee who was so polite. She chatted to us and made sure we were comfortable, which we appreciated as we are pensioners. Service was also quick. The Christmas decorations were stunning. Thank you very much.

"Good location and excellent service but poor sleep"

6.0

We were in room 2. Probably closest to the main road. Sash windows would not shut properly and without secondary glazing the traffic noise kept us awake so despite a nice room and a very friendly service we didn’t sleep well. When we mentioned it in the morning , whilst listened to politely there was no empathy or apology which was disappointing.
