Villas Alondra

The staff couldn't do enough for you, breakfast was amazing. We liked the hot tub in our garden. The staff gave us a bottle of fizz and came round with a birthday cake on my mums birthday which was a lovely touch. The cottage was ideal for our needs as we had a young baby so wanted 2 bedrooms and a lounge area to relax when they were in bed.

The location isn't great. Its up a very steep hill and we had to get taxis back every day/night when walking into town. There isnt much on the door step so you cant just nip to the shop or to a bar without a walk and then a steep walk back. We did have a pram and shopping however we like to walk and still found this quite difficult, its more suited to people who would drive. The pool is not family friendly. We didnt feel comfortable using it, it tends to be just for show as part of the arenas lounge restaurant. There are no sun loungers round the pool. The facilities in the cottage where not great for self catering. For example there was one pan for 4 of us. Only 2 mugs, no instructions how to use the hob so we had to Google it. These are all minor things but stuff that could be easily rectified.

The Deluxe Villa is well appointed with lots of space and excellent pool for the kids. the depth was ok for my 12 year old to stand but not quite in the deep end. Both bedrooms had their own bathroom, with 2 sinks, one bathroom has a bath and the other a massive shower. Shopping service prior to arrival.

No oven in the villa, we ordered shopping using the villas shopping service and made sure there was plenty of food on arrival, however there is no oven in the deluxe villa, so the pizza's we bought could not be cooked. The Cooking facilities are only electric hob or microwave. This is ok, but just be aware of that. Also around the pool area there were a few loose boards that could do with a little attention.

We stayed in a gran deluxe villa - it was beautiful and extremely well fitted out. Utility area at the back of the kitchen with washing machine and recycling was great. Bed was super comfy and air-con effective everywhere. Star of the show was the outside space and pool - so peaceful and relaxing. We arranged for shopping to be delivered to the villa for our arrival - fabulous service - wish more places offered this. All staff without exception were lovely, pool was cleaned daily, as was the villa.

Half board was a bit odd. Breakfast was really good but for the 8 nights we stayed, the on site restaurant (Arenas Lounge) was only open for dinner 3 nights - 2 nights closed & 3 nights there were private functions. This was a real shame as the food there was simply amazing. A small but perfect menu, served in a pretty setting with a lovely atmosphere - it was so special. For the nights we couldn’t eat on site were asked to go to the sister hotel buffet at La Islas y el Mar. It was a brightly lit buffet type affair and for us, didn’t remotely compare with the standards at Arenas. So much so, we actually didn’t bother going a few nights and chose to cook in the villa instead. It wouldn’t stop us returning to these beautiful villas but I wouldn’t choose half board again and perhaps just book the Arenas Lounge for dinner when it was open. The walk back up from PDC is not for the faint hearted but definately doable if you take it easy. We did it every day, rewarded by a dip in the pool on our return!

Nos atendieron de maravilla, nos acompañaron a hasta la villa donde nos explicaron un poco las instalaciones. La villa muy completa, incluso le trajeron una cama y golosinas a mi perrito. Sin duda volveríamos
