"Grateful "

8.0

This hotel is so bereft of nicities and so essentially functional it resembles a backpacker house more than a hotel. I'm extremely greatful to the reception staff for re-booking my railway tickets and reserving a hotel in Moscow. I couldn't possibly have done this with the language barrier. I've found all the staff genuinely pleased to assist me.

"All the things you can do wrong"

4.0

Been in this hotel on business trip therefore it wasn't my choice. First of all I received a room which looked like a long corridor with one single bed inside. Later on they discovered that the room choice was wrong and offered another one with a double bed (which refused being alone and already packed out). The wifi worked only if you register with a Russian number, foreigners normally don't have. Therefore we had to use the codes offered by the receptionists for their own number. This is very common in Russia, however I find it pretty abnormal. Wifi must normally connect people even foreigners who have done all the hassle to get a Russian visa! The hotel operates a men's club on level -1 which causes lots of headache for the staff and for the guest. On the last night we would've had 3,5 hours sleeping time, but it was fully sleepless due to the unbearable noise coming from the club. If you wanna have a rest, definitely avoid this hotel. The only positive thing however is the restaurant. The breakfast itself is nothing special, but on the menu you can find some very good cream soups, salads and mains. In Russia try to avoid a consomme everywhere as they are cooking the meat in spiceless water adding up some chopped dill in the end. Here the consomme makes no difference.

"Great location!!!"

8.0

Restaurant has been serving food until late night which is a great benefit when all other places are closed so you don't have to go outside. The hotel is located right in the city center, very close to all the main attractions!

"excellent rooms and location, no atmosphere"

8.0

The hotel has everything you might need, but lacked atmosphere. Maybe this was because there were not many guests, but the restaurant appeared to be set out for a celebration, with a 'Happy New Year' sign (in July?). We would have been the only people to be eating in the evening, so we went elsewhere, and for breakfast we saw only one more guest, so we were outnumbered by the bored waiting staff. However the reception staff were delightful and helpful. The room was spacious and clean with an enclosed balcony giving views over the city. The location is perfect - a short walk to the tourist line (get an english guide from tourist information as the descriptions on the green and red lines are in russian only) and plenty of restaurants. The park next to the hotel is an amusement park, great for kids and with several restaurants and take-aways. wifi very erratic even in public areas

"was better than expected"

10.0

the room 705 was a bit small however adequate for me needs, after such a long journey, I just appreciated the rest, the house keeping team in the morning were very though full as let me sleep late, then cleaned the room double time as I still needed to complete some of my work the food in this hotel was quiet, good bearing in mind the location and the logistical difficulties, the breakfast buffet was hot and fresh, and well presented the front desk girl was polite and very thorough, my stay

"Don't drink in the Bar"

6.0

The drinks is not good in the Bar near reception. I like Ararat. This is Armenian brandy. But it was not original test. It was mixed with vodka as minimum. Coffee is so so too. Restaurant is not so bad. There is outside much more better cafeterias and restaurant Hotel service is good for me but nor 4 star like hotel position.

"Nice hotel, excellent location"

8.0

I had to travel to Perm on business this spring and I had a hard time choosing a hotel there. I know that Russian hotels (outside Moscow and St Petersburgh) are very often worse than they are described on various booking websites. I didn't want to choose "Ural" hotel (the biggest and most famous hotel in Perm) because I heard a couple of my friends complaining about it. I booked my room in New Star and never regretted it. It is located in a relatively new high-rise building in the centre of the city. Surprisingly, the street it is in is very quiet, I just loved it! If you choose to stay in this hotel, you will live in a walking distance to virtually everything you might need. A very nice restaurant "Les Marches" is located just a few steps away from New Star. I found two cinemas and 3 big shopping malls during the first day of my stay and there was no need for me to go on exploring the neighbourhood. Location of the hotel is what I loved the most about it, everything else was good or average. There is nothing special about the rooms (mine was newly renovated, clean and spacious), this hotel has no style. It's just very convenient and functional. Honestly, I doubt if you can get anything better than that for this money in Perm.
