Excellent location and very very friendly and helpful staff. And that’s where the positives end. The room was dated, but that can happen. More worryingly, it was very dirty. I stay in hotels biweekly, and it’s been some time that I stayed in a property this filthy. There were clouds of dust on the floor, with dead flies, ants and whatnot trapped in spider webs. The shelfs in the “wardrobe” were similarly dirty. The walls had blood spots (probably from the killed mosquitos), the blinds on the windows too. Shower had poor water pressure and water was lukewarm at best. The AC functioned, but emitted sounds of an old tractor. Windows provide no sound insulation.

The Hotel Centrale in Tirano is lovely. The check in experience was very easy. The hotel staff were very friendly and professional. The rooms were very well appointed. The bath towels were oversized which I really appreciated. It is well located to walk to cafes, restaurants, sights etc. I would definitely stay at this gem of a hotel again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good. We had to leave early to catch the Bernina Express at 8.06am, and the staff opened the restaurant at 6.45am instead of 7am to accommodate us. The shower was very powerful and water really hot. The location was fairly good, only 10 minutes walk to the Bernina Express station.

This is a beautiful hotel, very attractive, modern and clean. The breakfast is a good deal for 10 Euros per person. You can walk to the train station/bus terminal, and Bernina railway station, restaurants, the main Basilica, laundromat, and shopping.

If you are coming from another major city on the train to Tirano, make sure you know how you are getting all the way to Tirano. They are working on the rail lines as of July 2025 and you must ride a bus from the train station at Lecco. It is worth it! Tirano is beautiful!
