Sanctuary Lakes Fauna Retreat

The place was very roomy, the bed comfortable & water for shower hot (as required). The lakes & wildlife were peaceful & very abundant. The owner was friendly/knowledgeable & I joined him 2 nights hand feeding fruit to the possums (a real pleasure). Feeding the many turtles was fun & sitting on the back deck watching the cockatoos squabble on the branches above was amusing. The location is great, 5 minutes from Urangan pier & a lazy stroll up the beach or along the esplanade is very do-able. I could happily have stayed longer than the 3 nights I booked. Having a good priced laundry facility on site was a bonus, it felt very private & safe behind the entry gate.

My mistake was to arrive at 8pm when the office was closed so getting in (other Brits note the locks turn the opposite way to back home) was a bit tricky. There seemed to be a lot of flies around that first night and not so many subsequently.

We liked the location, the room was clean and the beds comfortable, The unit was self contained, had everything that we required.

great little room value for money for a family of 5 kids loved the pond and being able to feed ducks and turtles

bed was hard and uncomfortable bathroom definitely needs a update. No flyspray for mosquitoes.

Great location. Very peaceful and quiet.

Cabins are old, the floor in the bathroom was warped and felt like it could cave in at any given moment.

Loved the tranquil setting and variety of wildlife. Plenty of space and good facilities - the verandah overlooking the lake was fabulous. A short walk to the botanical gardens, pier and beach. A big thank you to Debs and Rod who helped with our travel arrangements and booked our excellent trip to K’Gari
