"Disappointed, with venue but staff were nice and friendly. Money needs to be spent on this place!"

5.0

Friendly staff, comfortable bed, quiet, plent hot water, nice breakfast.

The bathroom door did not shut pr due to the significant subsidence of the room & floor. As couple we like our privacy in the bathroom. The bathroom fan did not work. There was no guide for the T.V & it took us a while to work out how to use the controls. The TV was hard to hear even at the full volume setting. The toilet cistern dripped throughout the night as did the shower head, which meant one of us had to get up and take it off the rack to lessen the dripping noise. The toilet roll holder was dusty & not clean and had rust marks all over it. The sealant around the shower door was black in areas. The whole of the window area in bathroom & bedroom needs cleaned - pretty awful actually. We understand it is an old building & that the window area is concrete/stone: it would not take much to re seal, clean with a soft brush and make it look less mouldy & dusty. The brown pillows on the bed were stained and we removed them as soon as we could. The floor in the bathroom was not cleaned properly & there was plenty of dust and muck along the bottom of the skirting boards. The same applies in the bedroom. Dust in many areas where this should not be; no checking had been done. Old socks found in drawer beside hairdryer, bandage paper found in bedside drawer. The building could be amazing if attention to detail was considered alongside the garden being maintained to a higher standard. Plenty of weeds all over; the sight of the bins on arrival alongside the old cupboard door was disappointing. Outside the bar area there were old kegs filled with used cigarettes & cans. This area should be more pleasing on the eye & maintained. We live in an 1850's house & understand the challenges of old properties. This is not an 4 star hotel & should not be advertised as one. The pictures on website look nice but realistically this is not what you get.

"Overall a pleasant weekend"

Bathroom was lovely nice to have a bath. Overall a nice stay.

Some of the furniture was a bit jaded. The tea & coffee facilities could be a bit better. The shower seal leaked had to wipe the floor

"Brilliant stay views walks and accommodation were fantastic!!"

8.0

Set in Northumberland National Park the location was idyllic. The approach to the hall was a drive way with sheep grazing either side of it, that followed the river. Breakfast was good with the use of local products. We stayed for dinner which was very good with a slightly changed choice of meal each night. The bar was very friendly and well stocked!

Could have been a better choice of tea/coffee in bedroom

"Beautiful location"

9.0

Good size room comfortable bed and a good cooked breakfast.

Plumbing needs to be looked at and a little more choice at breakfast if you do not fancy a good cooked british breakfast.
