"What an amazing Gem."

10.0

What a wonderful find. We had a very comfortable relaxing stay at Mill End Hotel. The location was good. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Although they were busy they made time for a chat. The food was absolutely delicious. We are already looking forward to our return visit. Thank you everyone.

"One of the best, especially if you travel with a dog."

10.0

The best hotel if travelling with a dog where everything is provided to make life easy for your pet. We had a superb spacious room, the breakfast was one of the best we have found with the cooked element obviously prepared with skill and care. The evening meal was excellent with a fresh menu for each of our three nights stay - something so many other hotels could copy who simply provide you with the same short menu each day. But the best thing was the standard of the staff who without exception were genuinely friendly, helpful and courteous - without being obsequious or over familiar. We were really sorry to leave after our short stay and have booked to return.

"Fabulous afternoon tea in a wonderful setting"

10.0

We went here for an afternoon tea on a lovely sunny day in June. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. The setting is super, close to some lovely walks and the garden is beautifully maintained. The staff were both professional and welcoming and the afternoon tea is one of the nicest I have had. My husband is a coeliac and his was equally tasty. We took our dog with us and enjoyed a lovely, relaxing couple of hours. Well worth a visit.

"Wonderful Experience"

10.0

We stopped for afternoon tea at Mill End on our way to Cornwall and it was a fantastic way to start the holiday. We’re regular visitors here, but have never had afternoon tea as we’re usually out walking at that time of day. This then was a delicious treat, made all the more special by the wonderful staff who always look after us do well. Sandwiches, cakes and scones were all delightful and we even left with a goody box containing what we couldn’t eat. We would thoroughly recommend.

"Highest quality"

10.0

One word, QUALITY, after, what was an excellent stay. Having witnessed the event mentioned in the review johngregson17 June 2025 I am compelled to respond. I fully understand why Piotr was afraid and compliment him on his strong and decisive request, for your dog to go to your room. He expressed your dog "attacked him", which it did. An apology and polite agreement to the request was all that was required. Later that evening I witnessed your partner, alongside you, express to another guest, that your dogs weren't very social and were tired and best to not approach them, which completely supports Piotr and undermines your complaint and infact demonstrates that you agree. I understand completely why Piotr is manager and am grateful he is. The next day a further guest, who also witnessed the event, agreed with everything we've stated. I fully recommend this hotel, the manager and all the staff.

"A wonderful short break."

10.0

We had a wonderful stay at Mill End Hotel. Our room was perfect for us and our two dogs, with an enclosed balcony that meant the dogs could stay amused watching the birds whilst we could relax. The food was divine, the staff impeccable and the walks from the hotel were really enjoyable. We hope to return!

"Top Spot."

10.0

We stayed at Mill End many years ago, and decided on our Devon holiday to return. As soon as you step through the door you are made to feel welcome in this comfortable hotel. The suite we had booked which was called Dart was comfortable and bright with its own balcony. Well decorated and clean with everything you need for a stay. Unfortunately there was an electrical fault in the room which meant we had to move rooms. A member of staff came to help and we moved to another suite named Wolf, another lovely room with balcony. Modern, clean and well equipped. The dining experience surpassed our expectations, tempting menus, changed daily. Well cooked and presented in a relaxing atmosphere, waiting staff friendly and attentive. We stayed for three nights, each one a delight. Breakfast was just as good, with lots of choice, freshly cooked. Mill End is situated on the edge of the river Teign, so you can walk from the door, either to Chagford, or Fingle Bridge. There is a pretty garden with tables and chairs........and varying views from the hotel windows. We had a wonderful time, and would not hesitate to return.

"Fantastic stay"

10.0

Thank you to all the fantastic team at Mill End😃 We had an absolutely terrific stay and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Every single mouthful of food was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. From the hearty breakfasts to the cooked-to-perfection evening dinners including the vegetarian dishes which had clearly had a lot of thought put into them. As for desserts, you absolutely have to leave room for these tasty offerings. I must also mention the cream tea. Light and fluffy scones with very generous dollops of jam and cream. We didn’t get time to try the full blow-out afternoon tea but did see some other guests happily tucking into a large array of sandwiches, cakes, biscuits and all sorts of yummies. We overheard a lady state that she required gluten free but hadn’t thought to inform the staff ahead of her arrival. Not a problem, the staff rustled up something that was clearly to her liking and without any fuss. The rooms are spotlessly clean , comfortable and have everything you need. The decor is pleasant, the towels fluffy and with the beautiful soft Devon water, you don’t need to use much of the Temple Spa toiletries which are plentiful. An easy stroll either way along the river which runs beside the hotel to walk off breakfast or to take in the country air makes for a very pleasant day. Thank you again to all the team. We very much look forward to coming back as soon as possible.

"Superb!"

10.0

The Mill End Hotel is a rare gem that understands customer service impeccably. Throughout our stay they delivered on every level. The staff are friendly and efficient, and tried hard to provide a good customer experience. The hotel itself is clean, tidy and has everything needed for guests to enjoy their stay. From a boot room, to bar, board games to garden, there were facilities to add ease and enjoyment. Our suite was spacious, clean and well equipped, with extras such as bathrobes, homemade biscuits, water, a fridge and generous toiletries. A special mention must be made about the excellent food. For both dinner and breakfast it was truly superb. Perfectly cooked, generous quantities, and delicious. Congratulations to the chef and kitchen team- you are doing a brilliant job! Good drinks list in the bar too, including English wine. We are definitely going to return. With so many hotels to choose from we don't often go back, but we left wanting more of Mill End. It is excellent value for money, and we really enjoyed our visit. Every aspect being both well thought out, and superbly executed by the team. Genuinely can't fault it! Highly recommend.

"A Warm Hug"

10.0

Mill end is such a lovely relaxing place. ALL the staff friendly and helpful, and can’t do enough for you. This was our 2nd visit and on the first occasion we had a downstairs room with a small patio, and this time an upstairs room. Both were lovely, clean, tidy & homely. We had dinner on both the nights we were there and it’s fantastic. The menu is small, but it changed each night. It was difficult to decide as it all looked great. There’s plenty of choice for breakfast, but the Full English wins the day! My other half described Mill End as a “Warm Hug”, and I wouldn’t disagree. Well worth every penny and I’m sure we will visit again.
