"Wedding Reception - May 2026"

10.0

My husband and held our wedding reception at Redcoats in May 2026 and can't speak highly enough about the events team! From start to finish they were a complete dream keeping everything super transparent, communication was really clear and great advice given when needed. Our guests all had the best time and have raved about their whole experience from aesthetics of the venue, food, drinks and accommodation for those that stayed. We wish we could do the day all over again, thank you Redcoats!

"Lovely venue, good food but a big mark up on wine"

8.0

To meet up with a group of old friends we booked a private dining room with a set meal, in addition most of us were staying over for the night. It was a glorious sunny day so while we waited we enjoyed the garden outside which was was lovely. The private dining area was the 'old kitchen' within the original wood framed building and was quite charming. The set menu was around £45 per head, wine was extra and had a ridiculous mark up - a bottle of NZ Sauvignon I can buy online for £15 was £43 which is nearly 300% more, it was even worse if you bought it by the glass at £11 for 125ml. The starter was a cheese & onion filo pastry which looked a bit rustic but it tasted nice. The carved leg of lamb was massive, more than enough for 10 people, and cooked slightly pink. There was no fat or gristle and it tasted wonderful, initially there were not enough vegetables but when we asked for more they were brought quickly. The cheesecake dessert was amazing and a very generous portion. Our bedroom was in one of the modern built on additions rather the original farmhouse and we thought it was on the small size but fine for one or two nights. It was decorated in the 'boutique' style which, as usual, meant deliberately mismatched fabrics and some quirky features. The bathroom was clean with a great shower and fluffy towels. As it was out in the country and the bed was comfortable we slept really well. For breakfast there was a small continental selection buffet and all hot items were cooked to order. All of the ingredients were good quality and everyone enjoyed their breakfast, however the filter coffee was absolutely awful. The charge of £175 for B&B seemed very fair and compared well to other hotels of this style. Throughout all of the staff were very professional and knew how to run a busy venue - polite, keen to make sure everything was alright and quick with service. The Farmhouse is obviously intended as a wedding venue and for this purpose it would be perfect but it's also good for other occasions. If only they charged less for their wine and improved the filter coffee.

"Birthday stay"

8.0

Food and service was amazing. This is the second time We stayed overnight in one of the signature rooms (room 4) and from first glance it was lovely. However just a little bit of critical feedback, the room cleanliness was not what I would expect for the price of the room. There was a tissue left on the corner of the bathroom, there was water marks in bath, lots of spray marks on the foot part of the the bed frame. And on the windows a previous customer had written clean me on the windows which was visible when it was steamy. Still would come back as everything else was lovely

Staff and food fabulous. The Barn was wonderful for the event we held. It would be incredible if there were spa facilities in such a wonderful location. This is our third stay, and we will keep coming back!
