Lorna Doone House

We had a very enjoyable stay. The room was good sized and clean. The breakfast was very good although we would have preferred more choice outside the cooked breakfast options. Our hosts wee welcoming and polite. It would have been useful to have more details on th eweb-site about the evening meal offer, eg timings,cost and sample menu.

Overall it was a pleasant stay. The only issues we had were: not happy about leaving our car keys in our room in case the car had to be moved. Due to not enough adequate parking spaces. We hired the room to expect it to be private, we opted for no freshen up due to our privacy and yet they still came into our room to leave the breakfast menu. Breakfast was incorrect even though we opted for choices. We’re told to leave the black pudding on the side if we didn’t like it. As caterers the customer is always right. To have the waitress/wife serving food bare footed was inappropriate too.

Comfortable stay in a lovely location. Tasty breakfast. Friendly hosts. Delicious scones!

This by far has been the best B&B I have ever stayed in. I cannot fault it in anyway. The room was of a very high standard and so clean. The couple that run it are friendly and offer you a warm welcome.

Russell & Nicky have welcomed us before. You know how it is in the guest book "We will be sure to return!" and then never do. Well we did & were not disappointed. Everything manifested as well as it could, from the weather, to the food, to the company, to the location to the... You go there & fill in the gaps for yourselves. Great place to stay - "We will be sure to return!" No. Seriously, we will!

We only stayed for one night but received a very warm welcome from our hosts, Nicky and Russell. The breakfast was very good and the four poster room we had was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished and decorated. We would definitely choose to stay there again.

Exceptionally clean property, free parking on site is a godsend, and location was 10/10. 2 things I would note would be: the breakfast is at 8:30am so we found we lost valuable sunlight waiting for breakfast to start instead of beginning our hikes at first light, so we didn't bother on the second day. Would be nice to have an early breakfast option (for example a pre-prepared sandwich or access to cereal, fruit and milk) for those of us who like an early start. Having said that the breakfast was good on the morning we had it, and they did cater to us with dairy free milk and veggie sausages. Secondly, you can really hear the river during the night. For me this was actually a positive, as I like a bit of white noise, but I imagine for some people it may not be as relaxing. I'm sure you could ask for a room at the back though. We would definitely stay here again if in the area, but make other breakfast arrangements.

Great guest house in a Lovely location, ideally situated for pottering either along the river or down to the coast. Very welcoming hosts, excellent room where we could see and listen to the river rustling by.

Absolutely brilliant

Great hosts couldn't do enough for us. Would recommend if visiting the area.
