Tamanu on the Beach

At first glance the small resort looks relatively luxurious, the 14 villas look well appointed and the rooms are spacious and clean. The food menu looked attractive and was reasonably priced for a 5* resort although there were no cheap snack options. Some of the food was really delicious thanks to the French chef.

The resort is in the south of the island about 7 km of poor road from the main road and therefore quite isolated. There is hardly anything to do in the resort specially at the weekend where there are no organised tours. Unfortunately, maintenance is not a priority either, and the safety box in our room couldn’t be closed, the toilet seat was loose and the toilet didn’t flush properly so we had to move to another Vila which was somewhat ant infested and this was simply acknowledged as such by the staff. Generally the staff were friendly but not very helpful. The first night the food took over an hour to be served, even though the hotel was only half occupied and every request felt like a bother. Our airport transfer was requested at least 5 times and every single time we had to start again with what time our flight was. In the end we were ask to leave half an hour earlier ( at 5:30 am) to make it convenient for the hotel staff to be picked up on the way back, despite being charged a premium price for our transfer. Also worth noting that the hotel charges a 4% credit card fee on the cost of your room (and every thing else) which is not mentioned anywhere by booking.com.

We loved the bright airy bungalow. The beach was amazing, lovely to watch waves breaking. We loved the peace and quiet of the resort. We loved the free transport to Port Vila. The spa was great and the staff are wonderful, attentive and kind.

The internet provider and screen set up makes it impossible to bring your own device and log into wifi. We were unable to change the aspect ratio to get our firestick connected. This was th same for all places we stayed in Vanuatu.

Kein Schatten und Liegestühle am Beach. Trotzdem sehr zu empfehlen.

Tamanu on the Beach was amazing. It was family friendly and accommodated for disability needs of a fellow traveller and went far and beyond to provide an amazing celebration for a family members birthday, whilst travelling.

The property was amazing, a beautiful location away from the ‘main resort tourist centre’ of Port Villa. It has everything you need, incredibly friendly staff and really delicious food, the beds were comfy, the accommodation was clean. You couldn’t really ask for anything more! I would recommend and I would definitely return!

The villa we stayed at Tiare Villa 3 was beautiful with a beach view. Very close to the facilities- bar/restaurant, pool & spa. The food was amazing!!! The seafood was a 10/10 every meal we had was made with love and tasted amazing! The service from the beautiful workers were amazing - thank you Alice and Nicolas!

Nothing really, only thing was that the toilet/bathroom was outside and it has mosquitoes - but they do provide the mosquito coils which I didn’t find till later.
