El Albergue Ollantaytambo

The best possible location in Ollantaytambo, no need to leave the hotel for restaurant, bar or coffee bar. The hotel building has been beautifully integrated into what I assume was the original railway station. It is has a farm attached as part of an integrated site with a distillery, some outdoor restaurant options and vegetable gardens for the hotel restaurant. If you are going up to Machu Picchu or coming from Cusco the good news is you just step out of the El Albergue and you are on the station and onto the train. Combine superb location with efficient friendly staff, great facilities and a creative conversion of the train station into an excellent hotel and you can’t beat the El Albergue.

Rooms were very clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was great.

A choice of lower pillows would have been appreciated, as the existing ones were quite high for us.
