Location was great

Felt old, tired and grubby. Staff weren’t very helpful and communal area was disgusting and poorly stocked

This isn’t the style of accommodation I usually stay in, so it wasn’t the right fit for me personally. I didn’t feel entirely comfortable and some of the other guests gave the place a slightly odd vibe. That said, the lady running it is genuinely lovely — extremely accommodating and clearly doing her best. The building is old, but the rooms have been renovated, are clean, and are well presented, just very basic. For the price, it delivers exactly what it promises: simple, budget accommodation. If that’s what you’re after, it will do the job.

There is no on‑site parking, so you’ll need to park on the street. For the street parking, you must buy a 2‑hour ticket from the machine, or you can park across the road in the next block without a ticket — but it’s still a 2‑hour limit. Apparently, there’s all‑day parking around the corner, about a 500‑metre walk away. Just don’t leave anything valuable in your car, and hope it’s still there when you return — this is Melbourne, after all.

I didn't end up staying

$100 deposit with no receipt and receptionist said if it's not returned after a week, to give them a call. When I asked for some evidence that I'd paid a bond receptionist said she couldn't provide one.

Room size rather small.. .. may be a slight challenge especially if you're tall. Otherwise comfortable room and nice cosy facilities!
