L’AND Vineyards – Relais & Châteaux

Great hotel for a relaxing couples getaway which is an easy drive from Lisbon and the wider Alentejo region. We stayed two nights in a Sky Suite which was spacious and comfortable, but could do with a little spruce up to bring it back to a five star standard. The whole suite was a little dark and the bathroom got quite cold in the evenings as there does not seem to be heating in there. We enjoyed a bit of stargazing through the skylight, and though we went in January, it was warm enough to use the outdoor plunge pool in the suite - just be warned that it takes ages to fill! As expected, the food and wine were excellent - breakfast was generous and of a high standard, there's a complimentary wine and nibbles hour at 4pm, and if you're not eating at the main restaurant the bar does serve some light meals. However, the tasting menus at the Michelin-star restaurant are a must-try; the food and service were fantastic.

A very good hotel. Great location and comfortable. Parts of the rooms, like the bathrooms and wardrobes are in need of upgrades. Breakfast was great. We have dinner at the main restaurant and thought the food could be better. Overall, still a very comfortable stay.

Beautiful place. I stayed there in November. Very recommend. As a feedback for the management itself, we would recommend to review the lighting project of the rooms. They are charming, but not functional. At the minibar, for instance, there was no light and we could not even prepare a cup of tea without our movile’s light. Would also recommend some wood for the fireplace to be legt at the room for the gueststo use when convenient. In general, very nice food and nature.

Wonderful experience at L'AND. Every person we encountered there went above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay: from our food/wine pairing instructor to the bartenders, the front desk staff, housekeeping, our masseuses to the wait staff at the restaurant! Stay here and you will not be disappointed!

This is a full luxury magic setting. Very exclusive and unique. A place to retreat and enjoy calmness. Service is discrete and attentive. The suites are spacious and very organic. Enjoy the outdoor fireplace or the large skylight above the bed. The Michelin stared restaurant is in harmony with the zen ambiance. Highly recommandable for adults. Children would get bored quickly and wouldn’t feel comfortable in that environnement.

We had an extremely relaxing stay, and the staff were extremely accommodating to all our requests. I do wish that they did a tasting of various Alentejo wines as well as an introduction to the region. That being said, the wine pairings at the restaurant took us on a tour of Portugal and included wines from regions that are not widely known as wine-producing regions. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would consider returning on a future trip to Portugal.

The hotel was nice, but only if you have extra days to kill in Portugal. Given our limited days, I kind of wish we had spent the extra two days elsewhere. We stayed in a stargazing suite & couldn't really see anything through the rooftop at night. You had to actually go outside to see anything. The grounds were pretty, but if you've been to other vineyards or countryside hotels, nothing spectacular to go out of your way for. The rooms were fine & I understand the idea behind this but they were a bit too dark (not enough lighting) for our liking. This made getting ready difficult at night or hanging out after dinner quite difficult. They also couldn't do our fireplaces after 10pm. Speaking of which, the hotel shuts down quite early so prepare for that if you go. The spa was nice & the massages were good (not amazing, but certainly relaxing). The staff was mixed - some were nice but others were a bit short with guests. There is also quite a language barrier for english, which was not a problem we encountered in other parts of Portugal at all. With all that said, it was still quite a nice two day respite. It's all a matter of taste.

It was our honeymoon and everything was perfect from start to finish.
