"Exceptional"

The staff at reception and at breakfast were lovely. The hotel was clean, comfortable and nicely furnished.

It was the middle of a heatwave and put small room was on the top floor, it would have been nice if the window was open and shades closed to cool the room. There was a fan so we put that on.

breakfast was very well managed, a lovely full english and a buffet table. The room was spacious for an old building, the exception view was the valley was special. A quiet location surrounded by lovely downland.

The 'service by room' sign should be clearer - we turned it as normal but this was interpreted as 'don't service' which was disappointing when we arrived back, the receptionist did her best to provide us with tea, coffee, milk, fresh bath mat but part of staying in a hotel is having a lovely fresh room to come back to - signage needs to be better!
